Why 343 chose Sotoro Tojima as audio director?

I just saw that Marty will not be composing halo music anymore, 343 hired some guy that made the audio track for metal gear solid 4. Is Sotoro Tojima any good.

  1. If so why did 343 choose him, did he have that talent they were looking for ?

  2. I want to see his works or best works.

  3. Your opinions after seeing his work compared to Marty.

Too early too judge what isn’t set in stone. I’d like to see Steve Jabalonsky try some Halo style music!

too bad sotoro tojimas doing it, lol, i miss marty already.

Good evening (UK time).
Before I type anything more, I’d just like to apologise if this has been posted before, but I’d like to ask.

I was in the shower just now thinking about my all time number 1 male, Marty O’Donnell, and it struck me that he still works for Bungie and is not on the 343i employee roster, instead, we are graced with Japanese game composer Sotaro Tojima, (of the most recent Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania).

However, despite 343i having many ex-bungie employee’s, which means that the gameplay and storyline aspects of Halo are in good, safe hands, we all know that it’s not just the story and gameplay that made Halo (specifically the Campaign) a huge success.
It was the incorporation of said features with an epic atmospheric and well structured musical score, which we all know had previously been done by Marty O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori.

Do you think that Sotaro Tojima will adapt Marty’s scores (if Marty gives copyright - or is the musical score owned by microsoft as well as the game rights?) or will he compose an entirely new musical score for future games?
(The Halo theme itself is as famous as Mario or Sonic, so it would be a huge judgement to change it drastically.)

Also, as an aside, do you expect to see Jeff Steitzer (Halo Multiplayer Announcer) to make a return? - I suspect he will, as his voice has become just as associated with Halo as the theme has.

Sorry for the potentially old post, but I hope this has given something slightly new, and is food for thought.
