The biggest news and shenanigans about Halo 5: Guardians at the moment is probably who the TRAITOR is. And i’m very interested to see what other people think about who this traitor could be or who the traitor really is and why. So feel free to vote on the poll and comment down below who you think it is and why
This is my point of view on who the traitor is.
In my opinion, I think the Master Chief is the traitor.
I think this because at the beginning of Halo 2: Anniversary campaign, we see a cutscene which shows a conversation between Spartan Locke and the Arbiter. Locke mentions that he’s on the hunt for Master Chief and that “he’s gone A WALL and the UNSC want him BACK”
This clearly states that the Master Chief has led something into trouble. Maybe he’s gone a wall due to what happened at the end of Halo 4?
I’m not quite sure at the moment, but my prediction right now is Master Chief, but it can change frequently as we get new teasers for Halo 5.
What do you guys think? Comment down below who you think the traitor is and why? Let’s see the comparisons between many theories
You should add the “None of them” option. Master Chief didn’t betray humanity but maybe he did something ONI didn’t like or ONI thinks it’s time to replace him. On Locke’s side, as far as we know he is just following his orders. I think Locke fears the events of Halo Nightfall to repeat but on a larger scale.

Obviously, it’s Master Chief. And by the end of the game, you will see that he did it to save Cortana. (assumption) Locke is NOT a traitor, he can’t be. He’s following what UNSC is telling him. Why is this even a thread?
My belief:
Master Chief is still the hero of this game. However, I do believe that Chief is being lead by something very dark. As Halopedia has stated, Chief will be seeing an ominous (probably evil) vision of Cortana and how she will appear as a ghost in the game. Let’s just say that Chief is absolutely being fooled this. Chief really thinks that Cortana has returned as alive and well but does not realize that she has turned into a ghost (perhaps an evil one). Therefore, this “ominous” vision of Cortana will be leading him down a dark path and doesn’t know it yet. Chief is still going to be listening to her because he does not realize that she is ghost but thinks she is really alive instead. So, it is Locke’s turn to be the hero to try and “recover” him and bring him back home to the UNSC. To top that off, Locke will find out that Cortana is an evil ghost and will do whatever it takes to try and convince Chief that he has been tricked and that what he is doing was wrong.
In Halopedia, the ghost of Cortana has a quote that says,“The Domain is open. Meridian is next. You only have three days. John, the Reclamation is about to begin.” This is what Chief will be hearing from her. He only has three days to do something but I’m not entirely sure what it is. Remember the campaign demo that showed the Warden Eternal. He said, “Keeper of the ‘domain’ and her secrets.” So maybe, the ghost of Cortana has told him to work alongside the Warden Eternal which is why he had been granted access to the Guardian. Then, Locke comes in and does everything he can to stop the Warden and convince Chief that he is doing everything wrong. Maybe, when Chief found Cortana on his journey, he thought that it was a success that she was alive but didn’t realize that she was an evil ghost. That’s how it all started and NOW SHE IS TURNING CHIEF INTO A TRAITOR. That doesn’t mean Chief is truly the traitor, though.
So I bet it is up to Locke to save Chief, save his mind and to stop him from listening to this evil Cortana ghost and maybe they’ll both find a way to stop her. Chief will find out from Locke that she is a ghost. Something like this is possible.

For the record its not A WALL, its AWOL which stands for Absent Without Leave. A delightful military term describing not being at your assigned post and not on leave/temporary duty. It is a pretty bad thing.
I think Locke is even though he doesn’t realise it yet.
He’s just following orders right now but before the end he’ll see Master Chief’s goal (whatever that turns out to be) is more important than his assignment.
This really needs a “neither” option. I don’t think either of them are traitors, at least not towards humanity and the UEG/UNSC as a whole although ONI may view the Chief (and maybe Locke as well eventually depending on how the story goes) as a traitor.
Nobody is the traitor. The “traitor?” marketing has been wildly overhyped. Chief and blue team go AWOL for unknown reasons to ONI. We’re told that in the first mission in the campaign, Chief sees the ghost of Cortana and she tells that he has 3 days, Meridian is next, and the reclamation has begun. Chief then likely takes Blue team on an unsanctioned mission to Meridian, and ONI sends Locke to bring him back. The end.

cortana, the domain was made by precursors using nueral physics which means to a degree, it has a mind of its own. It could be tryingt o trick john w/ cortana.
