I was just curious if all the Halo books were good at all because i might go buy em’ let me hear what you think about them
For the most part, they’re good. I can’t stand the Kilo-5 trilogy, though. And it’s not just because Traviss gets some basic stuff wrong or how she loves to berate Halsey at every turn. I don’t like the story, the characters, or how the story itself is written.

See personally I kinda liked it (especially the third book) on thew whole, but yes she does get very basic stuff wrong.
In terms of what is going to be most relevant going forward into Halo 5, read the Forerunner saga by Greg Bear.
I love ALL of them. Have read them through several times, including the Kilo Five trilogy. I’ve read and seen a lot of negative feedback on the Kilo Five, but I can’t seem to wrap my head around what people don’t like about it. Reading the books will bring much more enjoyment out of playing the games. I highly recommend you read every last one of them! You won’t regret it.
Buy the books. They’re great. 'Nuff said.
The books are a fantastic add-on to the Halo universe and should be explored by anyone who wants more of the lore.
I own every one and while some are better than others, I completely support looking into reading them
I have my favorites and my dislikes, but one should read them for themselves and come to their own conclusions. And then I’ll let you know why your likes and dislikes are wrong.
Just kidding.
I have read and loved all of the Halo books except for the Forerunner saga. I have yet to read the Forerunner saga all the way through because its a little slow for me.
I’ve read the first 4 books & have really enjoyed them. I’m almost done with Contact:Harvest. It really does make the Halo universe more enjoyable when you know more of the background stories.
Haven’t read Broken Circle yet, but I’ve read the rest of the extended universe (including the graphic novels), with the possible exception of some the LE release items. All of them have their ups and downs, but I’d recommend reading through them.
I personally loved reading the halo books. It really added to my enjoyment of the games lore. I am so excited to read broken circle!

No you’re not…
My favorite ones have to be The Forerunner Saga, by Greg Bear. However, I am currently reading and enjoying First Strike by Eric Nylund and I am enjoying that so far.
Some of these other guys probably have read a lot more than I have, but I’m trying to catch up. There is only a dozen more books in between them and I…
I’ve read everything so far, getting the new book tomorrow. Some books I liked some I didn’t, at least there is variety in the Halo universe and it’s authors. Overall love em and makes me love the universe even more.
Alright thanks haha ima get them
Isnt there a series focusing on the creation of Spartans? or Hasley in general?
I like all the books in the Halo universe except the Kilo-Five trilogy. I managed to slog through them, but it was a real chore and I’m not reading those Travissties again unless I have to.
Broken Circle isn’t the best Halo novel ever, but it’s still pretty good. I liked it.
Pretty much all of Eric Nylund and Greg Bear’s books are great, though Primordium felt like a little bit of a weak link. Silentium is one of the all-time best.
Contact Harvest, The Cole Protocol, and The Flood aren’t as good, but they’re still enjoyable. Of those three, I liked The Cole Protocol best.
Forerunner Saga is my favourite and also crucial to understand whats going on in the halo universe.

Halsey’s Journal does a fair bit on the creation of the Spartans. The Fall of Reach did a fair bit on the creation as well. Ghosts of Onyx touches on that same story, from the perspective of the S-III program. And in Halo: Legends there is at least one story that has Halsey as a major character (The Package), and I suspect the story that focuses on the escape of the trainee Spartans. And as I recall from the Evolutions short stories, there is at least one in that collection that touches on the Spartan creation program and Halsey (the story of Soren-066).
Karen Traviss’s work also touch on Halsey, but from a very different perspective. The kindest interpretation is that the major characters have absorbed the ONI spin machine, hook, line and sinker, with no questions asked, and thus are very anti-Halsey.
