Who's digging the H5 colour palette? With Pics!

I am referring to the E3 demo they just showed us.

It’s hard to point my finger on it, but it’s this darkish warm vibe i’m getting that makes everything sharp and sleek. Prometheans seem cleaner, characters more defined and backdrops contrast well with lighting.
I’m loving the purplish/silver/orange themes in this level (the Battle of Sunaion) as well, reminds me of the level Forerunner in Halo 4. It goes really well with the Sanghelios/Promethean environment we’d hoped to see (and it makes for some beautiful views (have a look at those clouds; can’t wait to see pictures of a proper skybox)

Also Sanghelios is developing beautifully, this is exactly how I wanted it to look like.

Even those who say Halo 5 may not look better graphically (to which I say nay), the art direction seems to be brilliant in Halo 5 so far. Even interiors like the Arbiter’s command centre and this room look intricate, detailed and vibrant.

What are your thoughts?

shame about the swords of sanghelios model being the exact same as the Storm elites but red. Wonder how they’re gonna explain that.

No. I’m sick and tired of this dark and gritty look. Yes, it looks like “Forerunner” in Halo 4, one of the most boring level designs of the franchise: Black rocks interrupted by some black metal.

I want bright and colorful levels back, in the style of Silent Cartographer or Delta Halo.

I think it just looks nicer overall. I’m really excited to get into this game and explore the campaign.

And cant wait to see what they do with the maps too for MP. What kind of remakes we might see snuck in.

The team that worked on this has a serious talent for incorporating a vibrant palette into an otherwise dark setting. This is seriously some of the best in-game environment and character work I’ve ever seen.

I thought the “problem” with 343’s art style was that it wasn’t dark and gritty enough…?

Critics. Cant please them all.

Op I agree one of my friends majoring in art loves the style to so I’m excited to see I’m not the only one./

Someone has to explain to me the problem with the elite models, because I’m not getting it.

The Covenant Remnant is using the same crap they had in Halo 4, no surprise there.
The SoS are using more Military grade equipment.
So whats the problem? That their faces look the same? Well no duh, they’re the same damn species. I’ve never seen anyone complain about all the Humans looking similar…

It’s pretty but it’s not to my taste. I find it very dark with too much glare.

Who said that, ever?

If I ever wanted a gritty Microsoft-franchise, I’d go to Gears. (Which I don’t, so I don’t.)
Halo is supposed to be fascinating and captivating, not terrifying and intimidating. (Well, outside of the Flood-levels, that is.)

Agreed and thanks for those pics Halo 5 is looking great.

Is that Sali Nyon from halo escalations in the last linked picture?

Also anyone else notice the phantoms in the trailer/game play look a little weird but in a good way?

Could be a placeholder model for the purposes of the E3 demo. 343 have got months to correct this.

Quite a lot of people, actually. I believe you encountered one just a few minutes ago.

Possible completely plausible.

Well, it’s at night, so…

Where?
As far as I know, I have yet to see anybody saying “Halo needs more dark”.

Sorry, a few hours ago.

> I’m sorry, but you got it wrong, it’s the other way around: Bungie’s Halo was very bright and colorful, even cheerful to some degree. Ever since 343 took over, colors were very much toned down, the number of shadows on the maps increased exponentially and the general art style got darker and more serious. Now I don’t mind gritty levels when appropriate (ODST), but I did miss those missions in the style of Silent Cartographer or Delta Halo.
