the halo universe has one of the most Badass characters ever but in your opinion who was the strongest spartan or the best (please don’t say chief it is to obvious).
Sam. He died , but he stood “a head taller than Chief” and was referred to as “the strongest”. Jorge is possibly equal to Sam though, because he also stands a head taller than the members of Noble team. However, Master Chief constantly was leading groups of spartans, even from a young age. He’s a master tactician, so he could probably find ways to beat just about any spartan.

Fred. John admitted he could have lost the title of Master Chief to him. And taking out two Sangheili warriors with combat knives.

Sam would have been way stronger than Fred. Fred’s very description has him as “muscular, but not that muscular” and that he could blend into a crowd. I’m pretty sure that Sam, who is estimated to be 7’6" without armor, would be much stronger (as in being able to lift heavier things and punch harder) than Fred who is 6’10" without armor.
Sam for sure. It’s a shame he died, so early into the testing of the MJOLNIR.

OP’s actual post says ‘strongest or best’. Best can include Fred.
Size is not really an asset in a gun fight, as Sam learned.

Yeah, but Fred or John would have been as screwed as Sam if they got hit. They had no way of knowing the effects of plasma rifles on their suits. Besides, it’s not the plasma that killed him, it’s just that he had to say behind because he wouldn’t have survived in the vacuum with a breached suit anyway.

wait how did sam die ?!? what book or comic told his story was it the fall of reach?
Yeah, if we’re going by literal strength, my vote would be for Sam or Jorge.

But Sam being so much larger makes him so much easier to hit, while conferring no added benefit beyond being able to wrestle things better.
And the plasma did effectively kill him, as it doomed him to stay behind.
I’d also imagine not knowing how good your suits are against plasma isn’t an excuse to be lazy.
I wanna say Kurt. However, I think that Tom and Lucy are up there, same with Fred and Linda.
- Kurt
- Tom
- Linda
- Fred
- Lucy
Pretty sure Grey Team and Red Team (Halo Wars) are incredibly strong too.
Sam was the strongest.
Sam died because he pushed the chief out of the way Of incoming fire. Not because he did not know how his armor worked or was a big target
Either Sam or Fred.
If Sam had not died so early in the Covenant war, he would have had the title as strongest. As he did, Fred has the title imo as Jorge died early into the Battle of Reach.
John is not the strongest, smartest, or fastest. He is the best, though, because of his luck and determination.
Actually, Kurt’s Green Team won against John’s Blue Team due to Kurts intuition. Only reason Green Team ever beat Blue.

Don’t forget that John was a master tactician.
Despite all the good arguments for everyone, I think Will is the strongest because he beat a hunter in hand to hand. Sure we can say John beat a brute in hand to hand (granted that Brutes were said to rip hunters apart? I think I read that somewhere but I do not particularly remember), but he had the help using a grenade (First Strike).
Anyways point I’m trying to make is that if we are talking in terms of physical strength, I think it is Will due to the evidence in Ghosts of Onyx. I’m sure there are other Spartans with amazing feas, but we simply do not have the reference from that.
AND Don’t say John can beat hunters hand to hand because you did it in the campaign haha
EDIT- Just read on the Wiki that Will was second to beating a hunter without a weapon. First was John… Anyone remember where this fight happened? The Flood novel?

Forward unto dawn movie, he jumped on the Hunter’s back with and shoved a grenade in his back and killed it.
