who was behind the Halo Reach armor design?

The title says it all. I’m just wondering what happened to them or if the even still work for Bungie. if anyone knows just leave a comment here, rant about new designs and or/ if you are one of those rare breeds that like the new armor scheme with 5 what is the armor you wish you were rocking right now?

I liked the Reach system of armor acquisition where you could choose which sets you wanted to get. I want the Argus, but I’m afraid that it’ll take a while to get!

I dunno who actually creates the armor designs but I do know I generally liked the older armor designs more than the newer ones (no offense 343), simply because my OCD brain tells me the more outlandish designs would never actually be put into service by a real military… but, to each their own. What do I know.

I do know if Halo Wars style Mark IV was offered, I’d never take it off.

Currently, 343i only has 3 former Bungie employees, I believe.
Armor design has been hit or miss, in my opinion. Bungie designs were more hit, than miss, but 343i is improving.

EEEEEEEEEEEEUGH. Please different armor designs.

I think that the Halo Reach armor designs had a much more rugged feel to them, where as the newer designs are more sleek. I think this is a representation of the era which the game is depicting, Halo Reach- gritty armor for a more gritty story, humanity is struggling, and we don’t have time to focus on aesthetics, we just need to get boots on ground ASAP; where as in Halo 4 and 5 it’s much more modern - humanity is on top again, we have the resources and time to focus on creating “perfection”: this mindset can be seen in the building of the Infinity, bigger and better… because we can. To me, they’re both equally good design styles, because they represent the era so well, and all designers involved should be applauded.

That said, it was nice to see the NOBLE armor return in Halo 5, but I wouldn’t honestly want the Reach armors to come back. They just wouldn’t fit the game.

Black Under Armor would go some ways to making the armor designs not look like globs of color.
They don’t look like armor pieces at all, can’t tell what is what.

Sleek? I feel the new armor designs from 4 and 5 just feels too bulky where as in previous titles, Reach included, it was more form fitting and offered more self-expression combined with describing your overall playstyle. if you were a good sniper you wore a scout helmet. good at close-quaters. try cqc and cqb on for size. Armor then was made for specialization and purpose to cater to a Spartans role in combat. A majority of the helmets and armor now feel bulky, impractical and just have a lot of reskin variants…reskins that mind you won’t be see unless playing in a ffa playlist because our armor is just automatically assigned red or blue or any other color of the team we are on.

I think it would be great for people that enjoyed reach to have a least their old armor selection to useable again. Many people played for the design. They could slightly modify reach armor for DLC purposes or event purposes to players that earn them but not through the Req system.

I hope the Shinobi set is like the Hayabusa set from back in the day!

it’s missing the beautiful Katana piece though…

Reach really got the armour right. The person(s) behind it needs more recognition.

Kinda wondering the same thing. I really liked the armor design for Reach and 5 is lacking in comparison.

Ditto, you’d think with Bungie kind of clearing house with firing some staff from destiny that 343i would jump at the chance and recruit them. or at least join highwire games like Marty O’Donnell did.

I have to agree that the Reach armor was the best looking in terms of detail. Each variant told a story.

I personally will always choose the ODST inspired armors because they are bad -Yoink-! Halo 3 ODST was an awesome game and the ODST helmet and armor system is iconic, almost as iconic as Master Chief’s Mjolnir Mk. VI.

Feet First into Hell. Hoorah!

I agree with the senitments here.
The spartans armor is beautiful now but sometimes it seems to much.
Though i attribute most of that to the colored under armor(once you go black you don’t go back).
The armors in halo 2 and 3 stuck the master chief and wasnt buldging off.
Halo reach completely changed the game and made us feel like we litterally were the spartan hand picking his combat wear.
With all the armors now its great with all the hit and misses. Something i dont like others will and vice versa.
Now if we could get rid of this crappy colored under armor. Black underarmor req pack Halo 2 and im done changing it ever. It feels petty but more options is better 343.
In halo reach you KNEW who were fighting there was originality never before seen in halo. The guy who stole your lunch money you remembered him.
How is it with all these insane armors everyone looks the same frim about a 10 yard in game distance.
Lets lose the power ranger feel.

Im not sure. Wish we could get better armor customization. That being said I really want the Hell jumper armor.

I wish we had the customization of halo reach with the same type of ranks like field marshall and general etc etc
