I’m fine with sprint, but a lot of people aren’t, and is like to see the general waypoint opinion using this poll.
Dude your are posting this too late there are a lot of sprint posts.
I genuinely don’t care. I understand that sprint is an illusion. I understand how it works.
I understand the consequences of sacrificing the ability to shoot by lowering your weapon in order to exit a slightly slower-than-we-had-in-previous-Halo’s movement speed in order to enter a sprint that’s a bit faster than CE’s base movement speed for the appearance of significant speed in order to traverse a map that’s significantly larger than we’ve seen in the older games only for the sake of making this movement mechanic necessary … so the whole thing is really unnecessary when you can just remove it, increase base movement speed, reduce map size, and never sacrifice your ability to shoot … like we always had.
On the other hand, I think sprint is pretty fun. I think making the decision when and when not to sacrifice your ability to shoot for movement is skill based (fight me, lol), and although I know it’s an illusion, it works. I love the movement mechanics in Halo 5. They’re enjoyable. I find traversing the maps in Halo 5 a lot more fun than bunny hopping around in Halo 2 and Halo 3 (although that’s pretty fun too, once you get those trick jumps down) but what I mean is, in Halo 5, watching players move looks like Spartans running around and clambering, thrusting about a map like you’d expect them to do if that were reality. In Halo 3, it’s a bunch of Spartans bouncing up and down all over the place like they’re wearing moon shoes. It looks silly … not like that really matters, but it’s something to think about.
So anyway, I don’t care. I could go either way. My two favorite Halos in terms of multiplayer right now (they vary from time to time) are Combat Evolved and Halo 5.

I know, but I haven’t seen actual polls on this and I thought it would make more of a difference or something, or it would at least do a better job representing the community.
Sprint sucks

I never thought of it like that. That is a very convincing argument. You sir, have helped me see the light and understand this in a whole new way.

This is how people convert into religions. “death sucks”
Sprint can come. Sprint can go. It’ll not make a difference on if I like the game. Just keep loadouts the -Yoink- away.

This is why I like you: you know how to be rational.
It is unnecessary mechanic, no reason to stay.
78 percent in favor, what a shocking result
It’s not necessarily something I want, but I know it’s gonna remain in halo
What’s even the point? Nowadays, the majority of Waypoint likes Sprint.

So we haven’t yet converted you to the dark side? One day…
On a more serious note,

I’ll argue there isn’t. If there was skill in it, there would be a clear and distinct difference between times where you shouldn’t sprint and times where you should sprint. No such thing exists. It is impossible to use sprint “better” than the next person because 1) it requires no skill to push a single button with no other factors involved, and 2) there is no cerebral component. Maybe if Halo maps were structured like platformers where running/jumping/etc. became a skillful element, but no. You sprint where you want to go because getting there as fast as possible is always the goal.

The skill in sprinting lies in how you use it, how you traverse the map: if you’re good enough if you can away and stop for your shields to recharge, but if your opponent is better he’ll out-smart you and sprint to where you’ll be. I’ve killed players who tried to run away and I’ve been killed by them while doing the same.
Even though everyone throws grenades the same way—the animation never changes—it’s about how you throw it, and that’s why there’s skill in it. More or less similar for sprint.
The argument isn’t whether or not sprint has skill (it undoubtedly does), but if a Halo without sprint takes more skill. And personally, I think it does, but that doesn’t mean I have some insane hatred for sprint.

You most certainly can sprint better than other people. You can sprint strategically. People who sprint willy nilly get caught with their pants down when they run straight into a room with their gun lowered. Exit sprint before entering a new area. Only enter sprint when the area is clear. Sprint sparingly. … it’s actually one reason Spartan Charge is annoying because it’s a tool used for people who just sprint about like idiots, like a get-out-jail-free card for their carelessness.

Sure, you can track players down who run away or run away yourself, but did those situations not exist before sprint? What does it add to the game besides being detrimental to other areas of gameplay? I’d also argue (obviously) Halo without sprint takes more skill. There’s less sprinting around and more shooting your gun.
Please use the sprint thread

And again I repeat… you sprint where you want to go because getting there as fast as possible is always the goal. This stuff you mention is just common sense. If sprint is in the game, it’s not a “choice”. Unless you feel like giving up every power weapon to the other team. What does sprint add to Halo that base movement doesn’t already cover? You know it has detrimental effects to other areas of the game and you know we don’t need it, since there are other alternatives to making the player feel fast.

Okay, those are fair points, but you’re not repeating the part I was referring to. I was referring to the part where you said “it’s impossible to use sprint better than the next person.” I was just saying you can sprint strategically. That it is a thing and that thing is possible to do. I have also already acknowledged that Halo doesn’t need sprint as that is also a thing that we have already done before, and we did it quite well. But I also don’t have a problem with it as I have enjoyed the games that include it. It doesn’t bother me. So I’m really not the guy to be having the argument with because, and again, I repeat, sprint or not, I don’t care.
