I had this brainstorming in my head for a few months, ever since Halo 5 was released, and I know they have the resources to make it, so I have to ask. Should Invasion return? For those who are new to halo or have not played halo reach, Invasion was a elite vs spartan gamemode, where you played an elite and you had to do some objectives to win the game. Some people might say “You need playable Elites to play this gamemode” which isn’t necessarily true. Kinda like L4D with a gamemode that will let you play as the special infected, but in halo 5 they should add 10 minor elites to play as, and as the game goes on, it will add more on top of that. More elite variants will be unlocked as the match goes on, and with each elite it will have its own weapon, until nearing the end of the match where 5 team mates will have a chance to change into special elites, like Ship masters and Arbiter variants to spice up the gametype which will have stronger shields for those special variants. As for how the gamemode will be implemented? Make it a Warzone gamemode, so the Spartans objective is to keep the elite team from completing Objectives as they are followed and aided by Elite AI partners. It would be an interesting concept, and I want to share it with people. So what do you think? Should this be how invasion in halo 5 should be.
The most similar thing to invasion we have is Warzone assault.
Playable Elites are most definitely a requirement, otherwise, my favourite in-game quotes in the series have no chance of returning.
"Stop the Humans. Do not let them through!"
“The Humans fought with unusual vigour, what are they hiding?”
Good times.
Oh yes, definitely. Playable Elites!
10/10 would recommend invasion.
It was a fun game mode but I really don’t see it coming in. It can almost be classified as an ‘indie’ playlist. It was never as popular as infection and because of 343’s immense emphasis on playlist population, it would never make the cut because it would not be made a permanent playlist.
Lot of time to create though, making the playable elites and maps. Balance them out properly, both models and maps. Then animation stuff, like assassinations, vehicle driving/entering/exiting, weapon useage. Reminder that elites are noticeable larger this time around so having them hold assault rifle with model of storm rifle would look like they held it from the air or flashlight.
I am sure there are more things to address but thing is, lots of work so probably will not happen in Halo 5. With some luck, Halo 6. I loved invasion in Reach though.
Invasion and Elites were going to be in the game, but they cancelled it and went with Warzone. - A credible source
I’m all for invasion, it’s my favorite game mode. Though if it is to return it will probably be in halo 6.

It was fun in reach, but I would rather have something else.
I really liked invasion.
Was also REALLY hoping for Headhunter to make a return with the Memories of Reach update but - hopefully some day.
