Who wants "Gulch Wars" back? (Idea/Etc)

In the late days of Halo 2’s life Bungie gave us Gulch Wars. Pretty much Blood Gulch and big maps with tons of vehicles and an emphasis on wheels and hovering. Though there was balance for the foot soldiers. Gulch Wars was more of the vehicle lovers.

Halo 3 improved this. Giving more vehicles. More maps. Though was not called “Gulch Wars”.

Halo Reach gave us even more maps. Heavies. Again vehicles were the focus.

Halo 4
Is new. Yet vehicles are being -Yoink- on. Plasma Pistols. Plasma Nades. Etc are giving vehicles a bad rap.

Too many times have I seen players skip over the ghost for a DMR or a Scattershot (on big maps). And only the powerful vehicles get touched.

Halo 4 Heavies

A mix of classic halo. Gulch Wars. And overall BTB fun

Loadouts_Forced

>Everyone starts with BR and Magnum. 1 Frag. No abilities (off the bat)

>Armor abilities spawn Halo 3 style. On the map.

>Fast respawn time for Mangoose, Warthog and Ghost.

>Slow Spawn on Wraith, Banshee, Scorpion

>Very Slow spawn on Gauss Hog and Mantis

>110% player speed

>Normal damage. Normal Shields. Etc.

>Same damage. Etc.

>Plasma Pistols only in personal ordance drops

>Maps made for heavies. Areas blocked off (example Exile middle area is blocked off)

So. Would you want a vehicle BTB style mode?

That sounds amazing.

I too am dissapointed at vehicles in this game. In Halo 3 Avalanche, it was hard to find a vehicle not taken. The battles were amazing. In Halo 4 though, I see warthogs and ghosts just laying around the maps ignored.

We need a true Blood Gulch map first, but yeah, heavies would be fun in this game.
But I want smaller maps first.

that would be really cool i think if we choose plasma nades from our loadouts we should start with only one and if they reduce the magnet thing of the plasma sticky the vehicles wouldnt be completly useless and the plasma pistol should be more hard to use maybe reducing the range or make it more tricky to shot like the bolshot that it only shots at a time you cant choose when too shot it

what i really want is to play 8v8 with multiflag it was so cool playing on avalanche and to take the enemy flag and to get picked up by a hog it was good teamwork

There wasn’t a balance. What are you talking about? In Halo Reach having a banshee or scorpion usually meant at least 10 to 25 kills automatically. That’s terrible, terrible ****ing design.

Balance is “Many vehicles can kill in one hit, so vehicles being able to get disabled with one hit by infantry is balanced”.

I like things now, me and a bro can stop you in a Mantis if you’re stupid enough to let one of us get close while the other is firing plasma bolts at you.

BTB accommodates the infantry type who want to fight large scale battles without vehicle users completely ruining the experience. Vehicles are still a huge asset, they just no longer dominate the scene absolutely.

@ people suggesting PP nerfs: You know it has essentially no tracking right? If you got hit by it, that means the enemy predicted your vector, fired ahead of you, and you walked into it, or you were completely motionless… in either case you got out played.

No, there are enough big maps/vehicle maps already. We need small maps, like lockout and the pit.

heavies was the onlything that saved reach for me.

I’d love to see it replace btb slayer with those settings. As it stands now vehicles are worth nothing what with their low armor and plasma pistol starts

I’ve seen it follow ghosts across half of exile.

The BTB maps are mediocre and BTB in general is horribly balanced.

At the very least vehicles should respawn faster due to how insanely easy they are to kill if your team is even halfway decent at the game.

Did you seriously just say they need to spawn faster? On Harvest the warthogs take 10 SECONDS to respawn after they have blown up, and you want it faster? Waityou’reseriousletmelaughharder.jpg

It’s saying. Lets stop wrecking vehicles every which way. There are some vehicles that are barely used because they are dominated.

A single DMR guy should not be able to take on a warthog. It yes I have seen that. Hell I’ve gotten double kills against warthogs ALONE.

I’m glad some vehicles are used but the fact DMR’s and BR’s can wreck vehicles is disgusting.

I did not know that because I do not play Harvest often.

They seem to take much longer on Wreckage though.

BTB has always been centered around vehicles.

Indeed. As I’ve said before, all the vehicles would be taken instantly when a round of Avalanche started.

Harvest is not Standoff, you don’t see so many people out in the open in non-objective gametypes. Not to mention it’s ONE map with quick respawns for hogs.

I’d really like to see an air battle, maybe as a BTB, you start either all in banshees or broadswords and are spawned in such. Or another map where everyone is in Mantises. Somethind a bit different.
