Who wanted Red VS Blue removed for "your spartan" customization?

I much prefer seeing mine and everybody else’s coatings and have never had an issue identifying teammates versus enemies. For those that disagree, there should be a toggle option.

Everybody wanted that. What a waste of being able to change the color if you were defaulted to red or blue.

Also, in game your team shines Blue and Enemys shine red. Its not hard to miss.

You can’t even see your own Spartan in gameplay unless you die and some deaths even make your body disintegrate into ash or fly away from the fixed death cam… you’re telling me the famous Red vs Blue was removed because players wanted to take 7 to 8 seconds to stare at their Spartan’s corpse?

They added the outlines purely to allow cosmetics to be more easily viewed and players can believe 343 made it more viewable for ‘them’ but it’s only more visible because players who buy cosmetics are walking advertisements. And 343 doens’t want advertisements to be “covered up” by the forced Red vs Blue theme Halo has been famously known to use.

I was initially skeptical of the change before the game released. I was mostly worried about how effectively I’d be able to still tell enemies from friendly players.

I don’t have an issue telling teams apart and my spartan actually looks better right now than he probably ever had before, and I’ve only spent $10 on thre BP. I’m liking that I can see my spartan colors in game way more than previous titles too. In MCC I pretty much I only ever got to see the color of a small stripe change.

Well, then and at the beginning and end of matches, which is still something I like. I also like seeing what colors the other players are rocking.

On the one hand, you have a high likelihood of being at least partially right regarding why 343i opted for the outlines in the first place.

On the other hand, I really don’t care. I like the change, I think there should be a toggle option for those that don’t, and I’m pretty sure there’s not much else worthwhile to say on the topic.

My take? It was a good-intentioned idea executed in the most comically unintelligent way possible. Outlines are functional as teammate/enemy indicators, but the coloring that they so desperately wanted people to display is hilariously limited.

The red and blue color schemes never bothered me before. And the new outline changes don’t bother me either. I can still tell the differences between friend and foe just fine, especially since we can change the colors of the outlines to anything we want… I only bring it up because this is just another example of Infinite being designed around the Store and cosmetics, and not because players distinctly asked for it.

What spartan customization? Can’t even choose a -BLAM- color I like.

343 don’t care about nobodies customising… it’s all about the HCS skins and promoting their little tournaments.

I know I’m not, but I feel like I’m one of the few people who actually like the change.

  1. It shows off your Spartan’s looks as you chose it rather than under a layer of color you didn’t choose. (This has honestly been an itch of mine since Halo Reach removed the 3rd color option from Halo 3, and the secondary color view was removed from Halo 3 from 2.)

  2. It goes a step in the right direction for taking away “home field advantage” colors which unintentionally grant intrinsic advantages on various maps due to the color palette that was used (Blue favored on Avalanche, Red favored on Sandtrap, etc).

  3. It still accomplishes the same goal as RvB giving the player a visual queue as to who is on what side.

That’s not a choice for the players to make. AAA Games have always been about making money in the most bombastic way possible, Infinite is no exception.

Instead of choosing the colors you want they choose them all for you, they also lied about the customization.

“Think of Halo Reach customization but better” we got a complete 180 of that.

Also how do you choose it? everyone unlocks armor the same path, the same way, unless they throw hundreds of dollars on things that should only be maybe $.50 to maybe $5 maximum. It doesn’t accomplish the same goal as RvB at all, it comes close but not good enough.

I did, it was time Halo adapted from just 2 colors…

It made the whole color pallet obsolete due to always being locked into just 2 colors. Only other time you had your own color was in FFA or customs.

Destiny and many other games kept RVB, but allowed players there own color to be adapted into gameplay.

The issue with infinite is the shields, Im all for removing the shield effect, ( JUST EFFECT ) The shields can stay, but the effect can go, that and 343 needs to tone down the Overshield effect, to damn bright and its probably the weakest overshield in all Halo’s or any game with an overshield ability.

HCS killed Halo.

Yeah, no. Halo has always been competitive, while still maintaining being casual.

Anyone who says otherwise are wannabe “ Halo Pro Players “

Halo can be competitive, but leave out the “ Force Competitive “, this here is what killed Halo 4, 5 And now Infinite.

The game is being centered around supporting “ Pro “ players and not supporting Halo, it is almost like the pro players are apart of the 343 dev team and are forcing it down the consumers throats.

Halo 2, Halo 3 and Reach had pro teams, but nothing like it is now, where “ Pro “ Players have there own emblems, skins and armor in game.

The game is being catered towards, what est. 20 - 30 people who are tourney / streamers / “ Pro “ players ; Yeah the brackets change, but the number doesnt and those “ Pro " players actually influence game balancing mechanics, that and test the games as there in development, which rules out casual players opinions and concerns during development which then leads to those opinions and concerns being complaints when the game is released.

Look at the Halo Infinite “ Forerunner Team “, made up of streamers and Halo Youtube content creators, They were playing the game in secret, from Campaign, Multiplayer and forge since January 2021 before the Insider flights for Infinite were announced, they were claiming the game was perfect and the best Halo and now that the game is out, they are being ratio’d SOOO HARD that they’re looking like hypocrites and having to back track what they’ve said cause the actual market of players are calling 343 out.

Call me whatever you want. But I don’t care about being able to see our colors. This is an accessibility issue for more than just me. A red outline isn’t enough for us to quickly identify enemies.

We need a toggle. There’s already an absurd amount of other accessibility options. Why not add another?

Oh, right. Because then they can’t advertise coatings to us.

I have been wanting go get rid of the red and blue armor color for so long. I really like the way its set up now. Seeing the colors if other Spartans isnt required, but there are a large base of people that prefer it. The system could do something else the make it easier to help id friend and foe quickly.

Yes, which is why I always thought it was they’d let you choose the colors you want in the first place in every Halo up through Infinite lol.

It was primarily an identifier much like the shield color acts as.

No they really didn’t:

Infinite does have more points of customization than Reach has even without the ability to choose up to 2 individual colors. Mathematically I don’t have a number for total configs in Reach, but based on the amount of items I had access to in relation to the points of customization in Infinite, there’s somewhere around 15sextillion total different configurations on the MKVI B core alone to utilize before Cyber Showdown.

Acquisition is a different story altogether, and everyone has their own take on it. I’m not here to discuss acquisition though.

Color customization was mostly a moot point in previous Halo titles (outside of Reach which had a bit more impact due to story and firefight modes). Infinite made personalization a centerpiece while also maintaining the visual indicators that Red and Blue without defaulting a player designated customization selection.

I can’t speak for BF as I haven’t played a BF since 2142 (which also didn’t use outlines), but neither CS nor TF2 has ever used outlines as a visual indicator.

I know I didn’t request this…I had no issues with R vs B

I have gotten used to the new system (I’ve been playing since CE, so a long time lol) BUT there are still the odd time where it costs me a kill or I shoot my teammate because I couldn’t tell if they were friend or foe, it took me a second.

I don’t see why we can’t have an option to make it so it’s red versus blue say on your screen only. I don’t see why this would be a problem as it’s only on my screen.

I also absolutely hate it How if I pick up say a BR from somebody it shows me their weapon skin choice and whatnot. I want to see mine!! The multiplayer is supposed to be holographic simulations according to 343 and their canon so it should automatically change to my preferences when I pick up that gun. Besides I hate these stupid charm dangling things that everyone seems to have on their weapons now. I find them really annoying and distracting!!!

Also who wanted player collision gone? I never in my 20 years of Halo remember hearing anyone say they wanted it out. Bring back player collision already!! In ranked play at the very least.

Try a different outline then.

The contrast works in the same way the armor colors do.

Maybe there should be a toggle for the old way though, no reason anyone should be opposed to the idea.

Also speak for yourself, there is no “us”.
