I always see the fanboys say “If Halo stays the same it will get boring”
Was Halo 2 boring?
Was Halo 3 boring?
I think Halo fans would rather play the same boring Halo compared to Halo 4.5/Call of duty

wrong, i love halo 3’s mp, but is indeed slow paced, and i really enjoyed halo 4, I’ve played since CE and 4 is completely unbalanced but it was nice to see halo in a new sense.
We have the mcc to play those games. I also hated halo 4, but you should wait and play the beta for halo 5 before judging.
I wanted change.
And besides, you can’t say that the same formula will work forever. Was Pong boring? No, it was an intriguing new form of entertainment. But could you spruce up the graphics, introduce a couple of new modes and release it as an AAA game now? No. Of course not.
I wanted change too.
Change can be good if it’s in small bursts. I feel like Reach and 4 brought a WHOLE lot of new stuff into the formula all at once and most people didn’t like what was going on because it didn’t feel right.
Everyone wants change, everyone wants new things. What some people don’t seem to understand is that there are many ways of keeping the audience engaged other than completely replacing a certain style of gameplay.
Halo 3 for all intents and purposes, is very similar to Halo 2, especially to the casual observer. Halo 3’s biggest strength was not that is was somehow revolutionary in the gameplay department, but how fully featured it was. It had a strong foundation you could build a community on. The jump from Halo 2 to Halo 3 was probably the smallest in the series in terms of gameplay changes, yet it was the most successful Halo game.
Now after that success its been arbitrarily decided that the original style can’t be successful and anyone who doesn’t care for the new direction is labled a ‘hater’(see also whiner, negativity, etc) or is considered to not want any change.
Everyone wants new weapons, new maps, new modes, new features, some people just want to see these new things applied to something they already love rather than applying it to a ‘reinvention’ of something they love.
I wanted change; more specifically:

What do you mean by a customizable HUD? Customizable in what way?
I love Halo 4 especially with sprint, loadouts, and the drop in drop out lobbies. Join in progress mp was needed badly in the Halo series. I just hope they bring back the visual rank numbers like in Halo 2 and Halo 3. Other than that I have little to no complaints about H4. I think it was overall the best of the series. Well seeing Scarabs and brutes again would also make me happy.

There a few different options I’d like to have. First off I would like to be able to choose between a few different layouts (Halo 2 / Halo Reach etc. / Default). I would also like to choose the colour of my HUD.
So basically just the colour and layout, but it would be cool if we could add/remove select elements such as the compass.
I don’t think its about wanting change its more about the inevitable of needing change. I think the problem with halo is that it never proved it needed change Bungie just up and changed leaving 343 to follow suite and add what they thought was good change. Halo 3 wasn’t a failure and it is so similar to halo 2 I would bet money that gamers not fans of the series would have a hard time differentiating the two. We are now stuck in the cycle of halo trying to find its footing again when everyone is clamoring for a certain thing new fast paced action or more of the same classic halo 2 and 3 style we never had the chance to see halo’s classic formula fail so of course there are many with reservations.

I think people like you should give it a try before a making stupid threads
I wanted change, the reason i didn’t go back to halo 3 all the time was because i had played it like crazy. the reason i did’t go back to reach all the time was because i had played it like crazy. i don’t want to play a brand new title that feels like the old one with 1 or 2 changes. seriously, free mods on the PC do that, not full 60 dollar purchases.
Millions of people. They brought the first sequel because they wanted change. They brought Halo 3 because they wanted change, and so on and so on.

I completely agree I like aspects of the games but it was way too much introduced. I’m glad it looks like guardians is going to keep some of the best.
