Who thinks the spirit of fire will be halo infinit

I hope we get to see these guys in the halo infinite I would love to use some of there vehicles from a first person perspective or even work with red team

I seriously doubt it. 343 have stated Infinite will be a fairly straight-forward Chief-centric story that will be an easy jumping in point for new fans. Kinda hard to introduce new fans to Halo through this game if we are gonna throw in the SoF, Red Team, and Chief all at the same time. That’s a lot of characters and lore to throw at us, and we all saw how poorly that went with H5.

They might be able to include the SoF, so I’m not saying it’s definitely not happening. But that would require at least a full cut scene of clunky exposition to catch all the new folks up to speed. My guess would be that IF we get a Halo Wars 3 (that’s an SoF sized “if”), that will be the game that brings the SoF back into the fold and close out their story line.

Then Red Team can have a nice long career in the extended universe with books, comics, and the like while the mainline games continue the overarching narrative.

Don’t think that’s happening honestly. They did say that Halo Wars 2 will connect to Halo Infinite but I don’t think it’s to that extent. Although the pilot of the pelican in discovery hope did have the older UNSC logo on him and I can imagine only them still keeping the logo like they did in Halo Wars 2 since they couldn’t update so anything is possible.

Probably some Easter eggs at least. Many believe the brutes are back which coincides with Halo Wars 2.

The Spirit of Fire is at The Ark and is still in a war with Atriox, while Halo Infinite takes place on Installation 07. The only way (afaik) that HW2 can tie into Infinite is if it involved Anders and the new Halo Ring.

Although I’d like to use a Grizzly or Vulture, sad to say we probably won’t be getting the SoF in Infinite

I love this train of thought. I honestly hope they’re not completely discarding the new designs and just sweeping them under the rug.

While I agree with the idea that Infinite will be a more simplified story centering around Chief, I’d argue that a lot of the events that Halo Wars 2 established could make themselves known. For example, the Covenant are pretty much exterminated at this point. Infinite is supposed to throw the player into a war that has “apparently been raging for a long time”. What better faction to slot in for the replacement of the Covenant than the Banished? I think the appearance of the spirit of fire would greatly hinge on the Ark (if we even go there). The main flagship will still probably be the Infinity, but it could be cool if we see a mission where it follows a distress beacon. It would be really sweet to see that Halo ring that got taken over by the guardian and meet Anders in person.

I stand by my thoughts that SoF will not be in Infinte. That being said, you’ve reminded me of something I brought up a longg time ago, and I heard it from a YouTuber (Toafreak I think):

Whatever the final mission ends up being, the final cut scene could involve Chief and the rest of the main cast standing on the bridge of the Infinity when a comms officer calls out that there is a signal broadcasting on an old UNSC band. Lasky then tells the comms officer to put the message over the speakers, to which we hear the tune of “Oly Oly Oxen Free”. Chief freezes for a moment before whispering to himself, “Out in the free. We’re all free”. Cut to black.

Basically the end of Infinite will be Red Team and the SoF finally coming back into the fray. I kinda see it playing out this way… Chief has a final showdown with Cortana, but she escapes. Cortana realizes she can’t remake the galaxy in her own image without getting to the Ark and activating the Array, thus wiping the slate clean for her to start fresh. She retreats to the Ark, leaving a badly damaged Infinity in her wake. Red Team then signals that they have it from here. The next game then would be a split campaign between Jerome and Chief. Thus paving the way for Jerome to become the new face of the franchise when Chief inevitably has to be retired.

We all love Chief, but this franchise can’t stand on his shoulders forever without getting old and played out. Passing the torch to Jerome seems fair to me. He has a cult following among the dedicated fans, and casual fans will have a solid transition if there was a split campaign between he and Chief. Halo has had two games with split campaigns. One went well, the other did not. So it’s really anyone’s guess if a split campaign would work.
