It was definitely one of my favorite Halo games. The story was amazing and multiplayer was on point with little issues (unlike today). Additions like actual assassinations and spartan abilities (though I think Sprint should be a natural action and not an individual ability) added a nice little flare to the gameplay. And for its time, the graphics were beautiful.

Amazing game. Got me into Halo and Xbox in general.

If you ask me, the graphics are better than Halo 5: Guardians. Everything has a gritty, realistic tone to it… whereas in Halo 5, everything looks fake and plastic-y, especially the armor, but also the weapons and vehicles. Looking at the textures up-close in Halo 5, and comparing them to close-up shots of Halo: Reach, everything in Reach looks so much better.

Should they add Halo: Reach to the Master Chief Collection and upscale everything to 1080p, it will truly blow Halo 5 out of the water.

Totally with you. I miss the days of Halo 4 and before when this stupid e-sports crap didn’t infect every damn game and ruin what would otherwise be much prettier game. That’s why everything looked so good before, it was there because an artist thought it looked good, not because it fit some irrelevant e-sport requirement.

Don’t get me wrong, Halo 5’s maps, vehicles, and enemies look incredible and I still like the game. But you take a look at spartans and you start to notice how weird and unnatural the animations look. And that’s just the beginning… Reach in 1080p and 60fps would definitely be one of the best-looking Halo games ever.

EDIT: Thought of this a few minutes after originally posting. You know how bloom was a real turn-off for most players (as was armor lock, but that’s a different issue)? 343i could do what Naughty Dog did for the Nathan Drake Collection and touch up some of the mechanics. It would still be the same game and fit the lore, only one that feels better to play. I’ve not played that game, but I’ve heard great things about how much better it feels to play than the original. Not that Reach feels bad to play by any stretch of the phrase, but you get the point.

Invasion was dope

It was a good game. Enjoyable matchmaking most of the time and campaign was also enjoyable. I wish they took advantage of the space combat mission to create a new mode but that’s just a tiny thing.

Best Halo maybe ever…I wish they bring back Invasion and Headhunter tho…

Great game. Definitely not the best.

Halo Reach was Bungies last Halo game, they put their heart and soul into reach to make a great Halo experience to those who are die hard fans and new ones too

How lol?!

I absolutely loved reach. I was an inheritor within the first year of its release and yet I kept playing daily for another entire year after that. It never got old. I loved reach’s infection (don’t care for h4 or h5s version). Reach’s multiteam, rumble pit and action sack playlists were all so fun aswell. I could spend hours sniping in firefight arcade, I loved the sniper/dmr start with unlimited ammo. Reach’s campaign was fantastic. And reach introduced daily/weekly challenges and commendations, there was always something to work on. And the rewards for getting the final rank were awesome. The skull helmet and lightning storm armor effect were actually worth the grind to inheritor. I don’t mean to bash h5 but it did all these things wrong. H5 only gives u some crappy emblem for the final rank. And imo h5’s version of infection with no pistol start is terrible. H5 has no social ffa, just ranked and it’s multiteam just isn’t fun. And h5s action sack is crap compared to reachs. Reach was and will always be my favorite halo. People complain because the armor mods like armor lock and active camo were dumb in competitive play but that stuff was eventually removed from arena. And I miss jetpack, I used jetpack a lot for like 4 years while playing reach and h4 and now it’s just gone in h5

The armor and overall design of the game was fantastic, giving it a realistic-future feel. Halo 4’s graphics were just too pristine. Halo Reach was by far the best game Bungie made.

The game that split the community? Nope

Split the community, how so? Please explain.

It is the first Halo that is considered new halo, I mean the split is new Halo vs Old Halo not Bungie vs 343i.
Bungie added sprint, bungie made the first halo that wasn’t close to classic. Doesn’t take that many brains to figure it out.

Okay, you could have said that a little less insulting. I was generally curious as to asking why someone seemed to say it split the community. I know I have different views about the series than others might so I like trying to look at things from the series from as many different perspectives than someone other than me might see it. So you could do without the “Doesn’t take many brains to figure it out.” crap.

At the time, it drove me nuts with all the armor abilities but looking at the bigger picture, it was pretty amazing. It rivaled my total time spent in a Halo game. Halo 3 still has most of my time but Reach was a close second.

-In Halo 3: I earned seven level 50’s in different playlists, 10,000+ EXP, and 180,000+ kills
-In Halo Reach: I reached the highest rank of Inheritor, hit the Onyx Rank a couple of times, and 110,000+ kills

It was my very first online video game I ever played. Minus it’s minir bugs, one of the greatest games I have ever played. Amazing campaign and multiplayer
