Who still plays Halo 5? And why?

Halo 5 is almost 2 years old. In about 3 months it will be. I can’t find to bring myself to play anymore of this game. I’ve had it since launch and I’m SR148. Meaning I’ve played this game quiet a bit. And I can’t play it anymore. There also seems to be nothing left for it.
But are you still playing Halo 5? Why? And how long have you had the game and have been playing it since then?

I still play because it’s fun.

My favorite game. That’s way I play.

I like Halo 5 too and its still my favorite game but how does it not get boring? There hasn’t been a content drop in many months. Around 8 I believe? You still like playing the same maps and gamemodes? Over and over…?

There has been maps added and game types. Why do people harp on “content drops”… Older Halo games pretty much only had map packs added and they didn’t get “stale” or whatever. The multiplayer for H5 plays awesome. There is plenty of content IMO. Sure it would be nice to have a few more modes, took them long enough to add oddball. But with the custom game browser you can pretty much play whatever you want. I mostly play heroic warzone firefight, super fiesta, btb, rotational social playlist and FFA in H5.

I enjoy almost all the playlist, so if I get bored in one playlist I’ll jump into something else for awhile.

The reason why I still play Halo 5 is because I’m almost done unlocking stuff i can’t wait to unlock the Sweet Halo 2 BR its calling my name also I enjoy Halo 5 multiplayer and I still have to get my Spartan Company rank up to get Achilles Amour set I really don’t care for Achilles but I enjoy playing with my Spartan Company especially since a YT Channel for us for the SP.

Ah I remember the days of unlocking stuff in this game. Unlocking… I haven’t heard that word in years… lol

I started playing Halo 5 about a month after its release (I had the game since release, but I didn’t have an Xbone to play it on…long story). I have been playing it since then and I still play it, mostly because somehow Warzone Firefight is still a fun thing to me. It’s only fun because I have a reliable, diverse req collection which allows me to call in the best req for each round. Yabda the Merciless helps a lot to keep it entertaining, too. And when I can get my friends to join, it’s even better because then I have someone reliable to drive my warthogs. I don’t know how to explain it any better than that, firefight just never got boring to me. Action Sack is fun too sometimes, if I need a change of pace.

The strange thing is, I get the feeling that I’m in the minority here on the forums. Sometimes it seems like most people who post in this Halo 5 forum don’t even play Halo 5 anymore. What’s up with that?

I do. I like the maps and gamemodes I play, and I don’t need a content drop in order to not get bored with what I have. It’s difficult for me to explain how it didn’t get boring to me. It just didn’t. This probably has a lot to do with one’s individual capacity to be entertained by a thing.

I might be weird because when I play games, I stick with them, and usually stick with one thing within them. For example I’ve been into Monster Hunter games, which are games where you beat up dinosaurs with oversized weapons. Lots of people who play it like to use different weapons, but I used nothing but hammers. People called me strange for that, but I put in more hours than most.

And when I played Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I noticed most players liked to try getting good with at least two or three characters (known as “mains”) but I used only one character exclusively (Wario). It’s just how I am with video games, I play a small amount of games but I play them a lot, and rarely diversify within them. I can’t explain why I’m like this, I just don’t get bored easily. Sometimes I feel like kids these days* have no patience, with their constant jumping from one game to the next, and their trading in of games for newer games. Back in my day, we never traded in games. I still have my old N64 cartridges

*I’m not talking about you, but my little brothers are like this

I agree. I don’t need a content drop to keep me playing the game I’m just trying to say that the game has gotten to a point where I can’t bring myself to play it anymore. At launch date till December everyone played the same 3 maps in warzone over and over. The game was so dull. Then the content drops came it made everything funner. Mostly because we were just receiving the actual game but it was all “cut-content free dlc”.
Up till now it just has that stale taste which there’s nothing left to do…

Despite its shortcomings, I still play quite a bit, because the core gameplay is competitive and fun… The 1:1 competitive starts are a large contributor to Halo’s addictive gameplay. And it’s always fun to hit clips.

The game could’ve been so much better though, with all the classic, staple game modes, more diverse maps… And with the repetitive map rotation (getting the same 3 maps it seems, per play session) and questionable MM and ranking system… it’s like if I’m not playing with friends, I can play about 3 games solo and I’m basically already bored or sick of dealing with mismatched games.

Lots of room for improvement next time, for H6…

I hardly play it anymore and there are many reasons, mostly the maps are very ugly and generic looking to me

Same. I remember seeing the Halo 5 multiplayer trailer and the Battle Of Notcus few seconds clip rolled in. Or as I called it, the badass urban map that could be AWESOME. Didn’t even release on launch, but in December I played the map and man it was disappointing. I hoped for more than a generic perfect symmetrical circle map. And we’re still playing on them, over and over.

I don’t know what to tell you  And if you’re rank 148 then you’ve played it more than I have

As exciting as it was to look forward to those, I do think it would have been better if Halo 5 was delayed a year so it could be released in a completed state. But that’s just my opinion.

Firefight is what keeps me interested, personally. Maybe try playing some more of that?

I take breaks for games. But I have given too much time to the title. So when I get done playing a new game like forza or Mirrors edge, or what ever is free for the month, I always come back to my all time most played game.

To me halo 5 probably has the most generic looking maps in the series.None of them are memorable and some are too small for 4v4 gametypes…rig, overgrowth, etc…

I still play Halo 5: Guardians because I, as one guy that wrote before, am the kind of guy who plays 2-3 games and can’t switch to different ones, same happened with SSBB back when I had a Wii. Also, I love competitive games and H5:G is that exact type of game; my objective is to achieve a higher rank, to become better every day, so I don’t really care if I play on the same maps or game modes, that’s why I almost exclusively play Team Arena. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ve been playing Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Battlefield 1 exclusively, since January 10th, back when they installed into my new Xbox One S’ hard drive, even though I technically own 70+ games.

I play it and only with freinds now, Halo 5 no matter what will be the worst balance when it comes to teammates.
