Who said there are no hornets in Halo 4?

this is a joke right ?
they remove the vehicle from the game but sell the toy with the name Halo 4 in it ?
I mean what the hell ?

That’s another reason I feel 4 was slightly rushed.

The title says halo 4, but it comes with halo 3 characters, and the background looks like New Mombasa. So I think it’s Halo 3.

I don’t see any branding on the box that says its Halo 4. The company just seems like they labeled the toy with Halo 4 incorrectly.

They could’ve upgraded it. Are they that lazy or unequipped that we can’t get a proper sequel?

Also they include ODST’S…

I am pretty sure that 343 made the art for a hornet mid way during Halo 4’s development but for some reason they decided to not use it.

Lack of time?Perhaps.Maybe it just didn’t fit with what they wanted to do in Halo 4.Too bad a 343 dev wont pop on in this thread and give a short explanation as to why.One could only dream lol.I mean it’s not like it would be spoiling anything in a game that has been out for 6 months already lol.

Hopefully we will see it return in Halo 5’s campaign at least, maybe even for multiplayer BTB if were lucky.Though i’m sure even if its in forge or customs it would still be cool lol.

I distinctly remember a Halo 4 image of Master Chief, and in the background there were Falcons flying through the air. I wonder what happened to those.

Hornets are strictly for inter-atmosphere use. The Infinity is the biggest ship the UNSC ever made, and is surely not meant to enter any planetary atmosphere, and as such has no business going anywhere near a planet to offload any hornets.

Thats my guess, and explains why they wouldnt be in Halo 4. None would have been on the ship.

I think they made a pretty visually impressive game with hardware that’s fairly out-dated. Many things must have been cut to achieve what they had envisioned. I guess UNSC air vehicles pulled the short straw.
Do you really think they’d leave out the falcon AND hornet if they had unlimited resources?

Is it bad that I am in my early 20s and want one of these? Maybe leaving them out of the game was all an evil ploy to get us to buy these toys.

Infinity carries a compliment of atmosphere capable frigates which would include ground support vehicles including hornets, falcons, etc.

343 are just too lazy to include in game UNSC air vehicles.

I think those are supposed to be 343’s new interpretation of the frigates. When you look at end section of the Forward Unto Dawn in the opening scene, it matches with the ships in the video. I don’t like the new look of the ships.

However, in the last mappack that was released (sorry for not remembering its name, I’m i a parking lot and the car beside me is blaring its speakers so I can’t think), there is a supply ship that comes down to a platform that can be seen to the right of a cliff (The map is like a rocky, desert area and there is only one cliff). The supply ship looks very, very similer to the ones seen in Halo Wars, So you are right that the Infinity carries atmospheric capable transports.

My question is: if the Infinity is so big, why can’t it carry enough of those freighters or even the mobile assembly stations carried by the Spirit of Fire to carry down even a single squadron of Hornets or Falcons?

If I interpret you correctly, you mean to ask why they didn’t add one or the other. To that, I have no reasoning or ideas. Maybe adding another vehicle would have overworked the capabilities of the Xbox’s resources, none of us can say for sure.

However, if you’re asking why they didn’t include both, I do have some opinions.
To be honest, having both vehicles in the game would not be a good idea because of favoritism and gameplay.

As far as favoritism, we would see heated disputes between the two vehicles just as we see disputs between the DMR and the Battle Rifle. Halo 3 fans would want the Falcon to be weak in terms of armor to make it easy to destroy, while Reach fans would want the Honest’s guns to be weak because its combat style is based on a single pilot rather than a team of players working together (like an airborne warthog).
For gameplay, the flight controles are different for each vehicle in each game. To me, the Falcon’s control system of having the vertical thrust controlled by the left trigger is comfortable and made since while the Hornet’s requirement for the pilot to look very far up or down in order to vary altitude would put it at a HUGE disadvantage on a battlefield with random heavy weapon ordinance drops.

I doubt it will be taken seriously, but I have posted a theoretical solution to this several time: a hybrid airborne vehicle.

We NEED teamwork to be brought back to this game, so we need the team-based Falcon. The jump-seats of the Hornet wont work anymore partly because we need to bring back teamwork but mostly because of FALL DAMAGE that would be taken by the passengers whenever they attempted to leave the transport. At the same time, many people would want to go out alone because they don’t want to wait for a team so this Falcon needs some of the combat capabilities of a Hornet.

In short, put the Honet’s machine guns into the “wings” of the Falcon. It will take some time and experimentation to balance this out for multiplayer, but it is possible. A random idea would be to have the machine guns be similar to the Banshie’s plasma cannons while the side turrets are slightly (only slightly) more powerful than the warthog’s turret to compensate for the decreased amount of time the turret gunner has to fire at a target while the pilot is evading the shots from below (instant spawn plasma pistol come to mind).

I hope this is on topic because I interpreted the topic to be “why are there no human flying vehicles in this game aside from the Pelican that you get to fly once in campaign.”

Halo 4 maps are so big they would be perfect for the Falcon.

They’d have to seriously manage the number of spartan lasers made available, though. We want to encourage people to fly, after all.

Exactly. I mean seriously, where’s the Falcon, stuck on Reach or what…
