Who owns Halo 3 servers?

I would also like to know if the owners have any plans to shut them down in the near future as I am still enjoying the game.

they wont you are safe they only did that to halo 2 because they wanted to have people have more friends but it was built into halo 2 that you could only have 100. So 3 years later we are stick stuck at 100 friends WAY TO -Yoinking!- GO MICROSFOT!!!

WTF are you talking about? That has to be the dumbest answer ever!
Halo 2’s servers were shut own because the original Xbox Live service was shut down and online support for all ORIGINAL xbox games ceased. It had nothing to do with people wanting a bigger friends list.

Not sure if the servers were transferred to 343. I think Bungie still has 3’s but 343 took over Reach’s.

The servers will be up for a long time yet, probably until a few years after the 720 is released. At that point, there will likely be Halo 3 Anniversary, or at very least it will still be playable online using third party software.

Halo3 servers were transferred as well. I was perma-banned from fileshare by bungie but after 343 took over reach my Halo 3/ ODST fileshare started working again.

I think they just belong to MGS now.

actually he was right

I think it’s the biggest shame that they are shutting down Halo 3 servers. Ever since the numbers on Halo 3 diminished, I put down the Xbox. Now I hear they’re shutting it down forever. There goes a piece of my childhood. All the hard work and long nights will be forgotten. All the legendary custom game maps will exist offline. It’s sad to see gaming industries main concerns are the numbers of customers on the newest game. I believe shutting down the servers is an attempt to have people transitioning to Halo Infinite. If I had the power I’d petition to get Halo 3 back up and running for a cross platform of Xbox One & 360 users. Those who loved the game will understand how nice a game of Team Snipers or Team Swat would be or even running Team Doubles with a friend. RIP Halo 3
