In Bungie’s games, when you attacked an Elite (or Spartan in multiplayer), its energy shield lit up aggressive and brightly as if covered in a violent web of electricity. None of 343’s games seem to include this same effect. The energy shield visuals have been tremendously dulled down, and this remains to be the case as seen in the Halo: Infinite demo that just released.
Firstly, which effect do you prefer and why? Secondly, why do you think 343i abandoned the original effect? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I prefer the effects from the Bungie games without a doubt.
But 343 Elites do have shields lighting up, well at least when I play. I’ll admit it’s harder to see it considering the Storm Covenant don blue coloured armour mostly, but their shields do light up as a blue. It is odd though because Spartans in 343’s games light up orange instead. But that’s besides the point. As for what I like more, I’m still going with Bungie’s and that’s mainly because it’s more clearer and easier to see
It is still there, but definitely not as noticeable. Of course it can be said that’s more in line with the actual lore of the universe and more “realistic”.

It’s interesting you say that. I literally just read someone on reddit who thinks the Infinite shield effects look like something out of a cheap mobile game, and I think he/she is spot on. That’s exactly what it looks like.
Bungie had several versions of recharge animations. I prefer Reach’s style but don’t like H2’s style (that golden energy cylinder looks both silly and ugly).
I do
