So we all know there was quite a few people who were working on Halo 5 that left during the production of the game. And I was wondering if someone actually had a list of who and what their positions were in the company.
From what I’ve seen in forum posts and articles throughout the internet it’s these reasons that greatly impacted how some people see Halo 5.
I love Halo 5 it’s literally one of my most favorite ones in the franchise. No it’s not perfect, but I’m really curious as to how these individuals leaving impacted the final version of the game.
Given how controversial this top could be please keep responses constructive and respectful. Not everyone can agree on everything, let’s be nice here.
I’m just wondering if getting answers like this could help clean up the dislike on Halo 5.
It doesn’t really matter who left, it’s a constant cycle for every dev in the process of making games. Using it as an exscuse really isn’t valid cuz in the end, you’re still supposed to give out a quality product that people paid for and it’s a challenge everyone faces. Just look at mass effect andromeda as one example, you’ve had minor spots leave, major spots leave, yet the expectations are still there and anything less is just a failure in the fans eyes.
I remember Vic DeLeon, Chris Schlerf, Kenneth Scott, Ryan Payton, Corrine Yu, just to say a few names of good people who left 343 since Halo 4 came out.
Even though they are great professionals, other great devs joined 343, so i do not know if this affected Halo 5 that much.
Bungie obviously left because HALO fans had no interest in moving with the times, all I see here is no sprint no ads well bungie knew this was needed to compete with modern games just look at the success of destiny for proof.

You can easily look at overwatch and doom as proof that crap isn’t needed too. Sorry to say but nothing can get outdated or “fall behind the times” if done correctly.
fyi: bungie left because they wanted to make a new game(destiny), they got tired of halo, Microsoft wouldn’t let them do anything else so they left. Have to lol at you blaming people not able to get with the times being why they left, I can easily link you to some of those bungie members calling sprint a crutch and served no purpose in their games.

Destiny would be HALO if Bungie were allowed to spread their wings but instead they were clipped.

So in other words, Halo Reach with a bunch more RNG and gun imbalances, making for a completely noncompetitive game and buying the other pieces of it over time?
Destiny was the result of Bungie spreading their wings.

Hey all I know is I’m a massive HALO fan that’s logged 3500 hours in destiny, you could probably double that number if it was made in the HALO verse.

And all I know is that Destiny came with a metric -Yoink- ton of problems and that number goes up and down to this day.
It would also be worse if this was set in the Halo universe because Bungie wanted to stop making Halo.

I honestly believe Bungie didn’t want to stop making HALO I think they wanted to stop making a pvp focused game but MS thought it wouldn’t work because the OG’s out there so they moved to a company that believed in the vision they had.

Halo 3 ODST isn’t a PvP focused game. Didn’t stop them then.
If Bungie didn’t want to stop making Halo, they wouldn’t have left Microsoft for that explicit reason…

Pff, please. You do know the reason ODST was released for $60 and had Halo 3’s multiplayer thrown in was because they wanted Microsoft to count it as one of the five Halo games under their contract, right? They wanted to be done with Halo as soon as Halo 3 came out but needed to make two more games; so they pushed ODST as a full game instead of an expansion and then went on to make Reach.

This, in a sense. The dude who worked on Halo 5’s ranking system who left after it was done was just brought back to 343i, so they are either working on a new Halo game or doing something for Halo 5’s system. And I wouldn’t say it matters who left, as part of the reason we didn’t get a lot of classic gamemodes at launch was revealed to be a programmer key to getting them into the game before they were ready.

And this is why we’re going to close this down. This is perched precariously on the edge of calling out and it’s already turning into a, “this vs that” argument which we don’t want.
