The suggested “ally” of the Banished the Harbinger? Who or what are they? They share the same goals as the Banished.
A harbinger is suppose to mean something that comes before or setups for another? The Flood (& Precursors) being the pan-ultimate construct to the Halo universe for the why, how, when, what etc. are returning. Their “agents” that have been affected by the logic plague are gathering allies or puppets to make the universe ripe for the test of the mantle.

The Didact loathes Humanity and wants to see the Forerunners return to power. - Cortana is attempting to bring about totalitarian peace via policing the galaxy. - The Master Builder lacks any empathy for Humans and hosts various war crimes. - Sali 'Nyon believes himself to be the true the leader of the Covenant Remnant & prophet of the Forerunners. - Mendicant Bias has had a history of betrayal however has shown some recompense when helping the Master Chief.Who do you think the Harbinger is?
My bet is definitely on Cortana, seeing as the Gravemind attempted to use a Forerunner AI as the harbinger during its attempt to test the Forerunners, I think it makes sense to use a Human AI in its test of the Humans. This rings especially true given the events of 4 and 5 that followed Cortana’s initial contact with the Gravemind in Halo 3.
Some people on Reddit are saying it’s probably the Covenant-styled mercenaries, which doesn’t sound far fetched based off of what we’ve seen in the demo and campaign trailer. I don’t think it’s Cortana or any Forerunner related thing, it doesn’t seem to me like the Banished would be too much into that. The Flood sounds far fetched especially since they’ve historically been more involved with toppling the winning side in a war to divide and conquer (and the Banished are clearly winning with control of the ring), and the Precursors are extinct.
I bet it’s the Covenant mercenaries, they were probably offered a deal by the Banished and fit right in with their organization’s structure.
I dont understand why the banished want to fight humanity so badly. Like they hated the covenant, common enemy. They are being hunted by Cortana, common enemy. Like why are they so anti humanity?
Few problems with these canidates
Ur-Didact and Cortana: The Banished are bosses of themselves, they’re kinda anarchists. They want to be free with extreme methods. They also don’t believe in wiping out humans, some human criminal organizations are actual working with the Banished.
A Prophet: The Banished are extremely anti-Covenant, having been at war with them for years, and would never stand with a Prophet. This flies in the face of No more prophets…no more lies, because the Banished were founded on the fact that Atriox was being sent on suicidal missions, and didn’t like his Brutes being treated like cannon fodder.
Faber: Faber kinda changed near the end of his life; also he’s dead. Near the end of his life, he activated the Halo array, and knowingly let himself die as punishment for all his crimes.
Perhaps a possibility with a candidate of who leads the Harbinger is an individual who is of a cyclopsian beast species nicknamed the Overlords.
