Is it the didact? If so then why is he now considered evil?
We haven’t played the game…
Yes, it’s the Didact. He’s the Ancient Evil because Frankie said so. That’s all the reason we need right now. There are a few threads discussing this already, though.

Frankie never said this, the Ancient Evil is still unknown.

Frankie has never said the Didact is the ancient evil.
> We haven’t played the game…
… And that is why I am simply speculating.

More importantly if the Didact is the ancient evil then why is he evil.
Through out Greg Bear’s books he is portrayed as nothing like an evil character.

This. 343 is simply playing it out to make people think its the didact.

This.
I’m convinced we’re being deliberately mislead by 343i about this whole ‘ancient evil’ business, Primordium all but confirms that the Precursors are returning to ‘test’ humanity again and the Didact absolutely does not fit the criteria of being ancient or evil. He’s old, yes, but nothing compared to the Precursors, and he’s not evil just morally conflicted. If the Didact was truly evil, he wouldn’t have opposed the construction of the Halos and stalled firing them.

hey you yea you! put some spoiler tags up you -Yoink- hole. just because you read something in a book does not mean that others have not.

And Silietium’s description states that there’s a universal threat that was likely only delayed, since the Forerunners can’t really control universal affairs. I’m convinced that the Ur-Didact is the one we meet in Halo 4, and he’s the one that had to commit the great sacrifice to stop the insane evil.

The book has been out since January and Halo 4 is 1 month away, if you’ve not read it by now then chances are you’re not going to read it any time soon and thus the story will already ahve been given away for you.

Great. Like I said, by Christmas you’ll already know about the whole Precursor thing provided that plot point bares any fruit…

i suppose.

Although it’s obvious he’s the villain in Halo 4. A temporary villain to the overall Sag, but still a villain.
I agree though, Didact simply can’t be the Evil, not with the spotlight having been shined on the Precursors so much. You could say firing the Rings was an evil act and would make him evil in the eyes of modern society, but as you said, he stalled.
If the Didact is the true enemy in Halo 4 then its just going to be terrible. (IMO) as reading the books just portrays him in a completely different way. Also just finished listening to Halo primordium audio log and the ending was brilliant finding out that Chakas is 343 Guilty Spark and Hes back and commandeered a ONI vessel to find the Librarian
I believe the didact is the game’s antagonist, but is not the ancient evil. That hasn’t been confirmed yet
I believe he will be the main antagonist in Halo 4 but not the ancient evil.
