Who is most likely to be the Guardians? +my theory

Halo 5: Guardians

Do you think the Guardians are referring to the heroes of the series? (John, Arbiter, Locke) Or do you think that it could be a title for something the Forerunners built? Putting a villainous twist to the name could be pretty clever. We already know that the forerunners name all their soldiers after royal and “good-sounding” ranks. Knights, watchers. It seems all of the Forerunner creations aren’t actually “evil”, but built to safeguard important things.

The Didact has essentially made any remaining forerunner constructs evil. Is it possible that the Forerunners could have tried to beat the flood through other methods? The Halo Array was the last resort, but maybe they made other plans that didn’t get to see the light of day.

I have a theory/hunch that the title “Guardians” refers to the Forerunners alternative plan to the Halo Array. A plan that consists of creating colossal war machines with the intent of eradicating the Flood, and if that isn’t possible, to exterminate all potential hosts. In essence it’s the same as the Halo Array, but in this case they are giant war machines that physically hunt down and kill every sentient being (similar to the Reapers in Mass Effect). These “Guardians” would pose a threat not seen since the Flood. Whereas the Halo rings were stopped before they could activate, the Guardians have already begun their galactic genocide and you guessed it: The only one who can stop them is the Master Chief.

The only known threat that can top the Flood and the Forerunners technology is just that. You either fight the most dangerous species in the galaxy, or you fight the only thing strong enough to defeat them.

I just hope that the so-titled Guardians aren’t related to the unaccounted-for deaths we experience in multiplayer. I think those should remain a mystery. Adds a lot to the atmosphere. As for your speculation, we’ll just have to wait and see :3

I don’t know who these guardians are, but the Didact says: “We are forerunners, guardians of all that exists”

this could have something to do with the sub-title of Halo 5

Funny that you bring that up! There’s an achievement in MCC to be killed by the Guardians and the name of the achievement is “The Guardians are coming”

Cortana

“I am your sword, I am your shield”
“I was suppose to take care of you.” “We were suppose to take care of each other, and we did.”

“The path ahead is fraught with peril, but I will do all that I can to keep it stable - keep it safe. I’m not so foolish to believe that this will absolve me of my sins, one life hardly balances billions. But I would have my makers know that I have changed. And you shall be my example.” — Mendicant Bias to John-117, Halo 3’s final terminal

With the loss of one guardian (Cortana), Chief (and probably Blue Team) looks to be traveling to the Ark in search of his ultimate guardian - Mendicant Bias.

Maybe a reach survivor

Maybe someone like Jun or Noble 6

or master chief’s long lost bro
I don’t know
that would be weird and cool

These aren’t text messages. Just post one message.

About Guardians, the “We are Forerunners, GUARDIANS of all that exist…” Is just coincidence. In Cryptum the Librarian says something about Forerunners being Guardians.

But why would the Forerunners make giant war machines to kill all hosts, if the Forerunners have their own ring array to do it way faster than going around killing everyone?

The Arbiter, The Chief and Locke take up the mantle of responsibility and become the Guardians of the galaxy…Or the universe since that group name is trade marked.
