Who is more hated Palmer or Del Rio

After seeing some of the responses to Del Rios appearance in Hunt The Truth I kind of want to know who is actually the more hated or disliked character.

I would go with Palmer. They both have a lot of faults but I feel Del Rios faults and opinions actually add to the Halo universe unlike Palmers.

Del Rio by a flippin mile. I like Palmer’s character way more than Del Rio. She is on the verge of changing into something more.

How don’t Palmers faults and opinions actually add to the universe? Last I checked her personal doubt in killing Halsey caused her to land a non lethal shot in Halsey’s arm and in turn leaving the galaxy’s smartest human in the clutches of a anti human Sangheli terrorist. Then again with Halsey in her clutches her self doubt in the mission caused Halsey to get away AGAIN with both pieces of the Janus Key tipping the scale of the galactic balance greatly in favor or the genocidal Sangheli terrorist. I understand how irritating her character can be but all this Palmer hate is a bit to ridiculous to me people hate her more than they hate the Didact and he’s trying to rid the entire galaxy of humanity.

Palmer.

The UR-Didact hates humanity mostly due to the fact he spent awhile with the gravemind durring the forerunner flood war. As well all know spending time with a gravemind is not the best way to keep your sanity.

I know why he hates humanity he has perfectly just reasons To hate humanity Never mind his insanity but that wasn’t the point I was making.

I like Palmer. There. I said it.

So do I. I don’t mind being in the minority.

I think Palmer is probably the biggest wasted potential and one of the worst written characters.

She’s supposed to be the leader of the most elite branch of soldiers in humanity, yet exhibits almost no leadership potential. Her hatred for scientists seemed excessive and calling them eggheads was just unprofessional and childish. She also disregards the safety of those under her command in order to fulfill her own desires.

At least Her hatred for Halsey, while at first was annoying and poorly written has been redeemed in some sense, by her character growth and improved characterization. It make sense that she has conflict about what Halsey did, because deep down she both is grateful Halsey’s technologies and know how lead to the development of the Spartan program but appalled by the price that was paid in the early iterations of the program.

I hope Palmer gets the story and growth she deserves as a character(looks like she will), but I think she’s the most hated for wasted potential and just being a disappointment.

Del Rio is meant to be hated and written that way on purpose, so I think even if he elicits a stronger emotional response initially, he at least fulfills his role as a character and we aren’t left feeling let down by him in the long run, because we expect him to be a psychotic jerk.

I like the idea of Palmers character but she is meant to be a leader and the rest of the Infinity’s contingent of Spartans are meant to look up to her, yet she constantly insults those around her doesn’t think of the bigger picture and is willing to get her own soldiers injured just to meet her goals. I think Halsey should be punished just as much as Palmer does but it has been done to death in Kilo 5 and her just becoming obsessed about it doesn’t help.

Del Rio on the other hand is a massive pain in the -Yoink- constantly thinking he knows best, but his actions are justified and throughout Halo 4 he was mostly sticking to protocol, unfortunately he lost sight of when not to follow protocol but in the end he had the welfare of Infinity and its crew at heart when he made his decisions. Plus Del Rio seems to show some kind of hatred towards the Spartans 2s (in particular chief) which has been done before but we don’t see it often enough.

I do want to like Palmers character and im sure she will grow as a character and become a fan favourite at some point but up until now she doesn’t seem to learn from her mistakes, Del Rio got his punishment for his one mistake but Palmer doesn’t seem to get any form of punishment for hers, I think she should have at least of been demoted to just a fire team leader after the events at Aktis 4 and been replaced with another Spartan like Del Rio was replaced by Lasky.

Palmer is getting better as Escalation goes on. Her little talk with Halsey seemed to make her see the flaws in her reasoning and it made her hesitate, letting Halsey escape yet again.

Del Rio, on the other hand, exists to be an -Yoink-. That’s his purpose in the Halo Universe. So obviously, Del Rio is my most hated character.

Palmer may be a little bit annoying. But she’s good in my book.
Del Rio is another story, he’s a character that only cares about himself and his needs, never into others…and now he’s trying to put everyone against the Chief.

Del Rio. He refused to listen to a Spartan II’s warning, apparently couldn’t be bothered to review the Chief’s camera log…and his inaction and indecision led to the deaths of tens of thousands.

Other than making a joke about the Chief’s height and her dislike of Halsey, Palmer is fine by me. I’m pretty sure her tune will change once she learns the truth about ONI.

They’re both obnoxious and extremely poor characters, but Del Rio is essentially a one-scene wonder and has only shown up once and had barely any screen-time at that, whereas Palmer has shown up many times. In terms of annoyance level, they’re just as bad as the other, but Palmer is more annoying and worse in my book simply because she keeps appearing and has a consistent role in new stuff. The only positive for Del Rio is that he fulfils his narrative role perfectly and in that sense is fairly well written, he’s meant to be hated and the audience does hate him, so he serves his intended purpose. Palmer on the other hand was intended to be someone that the audience would like or at least root for…and 343i has failed miserably with it. So Palmer is worse by far.

The thing is, they’re disliked for different reasons. Del Rio was written to be detestable. He’s a character everyone loves to hate. Palmer, on the other hand, was clearly supposed to be likable and 343i’s new rad breakout character, but because of poor writing, her character just feels grating and forced most of the time. From her latest appearance in Escalation, however, it seems as though the writers are cognizant of this discord and are taking steps to improve her character.

Del rio was brought into the Halo universe to be a -Yoink-, and he does that well. Palmer however could of been writen better. She’s not very likable or friendly to other characters.

I think Del Rio because he’s designed to be hated basically

The difference is that Palmer has room for character growth, even if she has to learn things the hard way. Del Rio, on the other hand, is holding his shovel tightly and digging down further. He’ll serve his own self-interest first, especially now that he’s a senator.

I find Del Rio more boring, but more safely written. Meaning he fits what his character is supposed to be well, but not controversially or anything. Palmer has had, IMO, both great and badly written scenes, partly because she is a more interesting character and partly because she’s a more important character.

Del Rio is an (expletive) though because he holds an obvious grudge against Chief despite Chief ultimately making the right call about the Didact, saving Earth.

I don’t really want to vote here, because I don’t hate either characters. They both have an important role, though one more than the other.
