I am buying day one but have not pre ordered it. I am buying the digital copy so can’t really pre order. I saw where halo MCC had something like 43,000 pre orders which is not a lot and wondered if it was because of the digital download. I hate having discs.
I am buying it after I finish my Uni term this fall. If there was a worthwhile pre-order bonus included (the skulls are all just timed exclusives, which dont really interest me anyways) like Destiny has, than I would have pre-ordered it.
I am the same as you friend since digital has been available it is all I have bought. Especially since now my brother and I only need to purchase one copy and we can both play the game.
However I have heard digital pre-ordering will be available soon so if that happens before The MCC is released I shall pre-order that way.
Not pre-ordered yet. Waiting in the extreme hopes they release a Halo Xbone bundle of some sort that I can pre-order. Definitely getting a hard copy. Digital downloads are fine for indie games, but for AAA titles I want a physical copy. I was born in the 80’s so my train of thought is a bit old school in that I want physical copies of the media I purchase. 
I’ll buy it with XBone bundle. If there was preorder for such bundle, well, I don’t pre-order games. In my country box games are cheaper (even on day 1) than digital versions or box pre-orders. I’ll go to store, and when I see it, I buy it.
I haven’t pre-ordered yet, but I’ll definitely be doing so before the game releases. I’m waiting to see if there will be a 1Tb version of the Xbox One before buying one, and once I do so, I’ll pre-order the MCC as I do so.

I’m buying but not sure if I will preorder. I only preorder a game if there is good reason to. Nothing for the MCC screams preorder me. Skulls don’t do anything for me. I’m more a MP kinda guy.
It’s a day 1 purchase for me, but I’m only going to pre-order if Gamestop or someone else is doing a midnight release (haven’t yet gone to my local store to ask if they are or not).
I hate the culture of pre-ordering and sliced off pre-order bonuses, and I refuse to support it.

Unfortunately, it’s been confirmed that there will not be a limited edition of the Master Chief Collection. I mean, let’s be honest here, what could they really add to it to make it even more desirable anyway?
