Who is at-fault in this type of situation?

Preface; I am extremely used to not having to worry about betraying anyone given friendly fire has been turned off in Infinity Slayer, BTB & SWAT. Not that it’s an excuse, but having played nearly every day since November it’s kind of ingrained at this point.

Anyway, here’s the scenario.

Lightning CTF, round just starts on Simplex or any other map where the other team can be seen directly opposite, immediately scope to shoot directly across the starting point at the opposite team, fellow teammate runs right across my scope path as I pull the trigger getting shot instead of the intended target, teammate then curses like crazy over the mic and immediately boots me. This has happened in any number of different ways while I’ve been scoped in Lightning CTF.

It’s really getting on my nerves because 1) I obviously get booted from a match I had to wait anywhere from a minute to several minutes to get into and that can get infuriating, but 2) I also like to think of myself as a pretty good teammate who doesn’t betray much, if at all, due to carelessness (or anything else for that matter)

Should I let this get to me as much as it is or just consider it part of playing a faster paced CTF with no shields?

Ha, this literally just happened to me. I’ve betrayed/been betrayed every Lightning Flag game I’ve played, and just got booted for the first time. Never even realized booting was enabled.

I don’t think too much of it, seeing as usually the betraying shot kills the bad guy too.

I’m puzzled why they would keep FF on in this game though. It’s a grievers’ paradise even with the booting enabled, and I don’t see how disabling FF breaks the game like it would Grifball.

Game is rad tho, it’s a lot more fun than I anticipated.

Thank you for your feedback on this scenario and game type - we will investigate to see if any changes should be made. Be sure to also check out the Action Sack feedback thread to discuss with others!

As much as Id be the blame in those situations, Im saying it’s your fault OP. in a situation like that, most people want to avoid starting the game like that, so they attempt to Sprint out of the killbox immediately. Being betrayed would enrage them and i see their point. Friendly Fire woule alleviate these issues.

However, 343, if you disable friendly fire, disable betrayal booting as well, because if a teammate interacts with us and we kill ourselves with ordnance drops, the teammate will still get a betrayal against you (because ordnance deaths by your own ordnance is a guardian kill unless someone immediately interacted with you, teammates as well.)

Not your fault, gunfire should be expected at the start of a match. If you want to get away from the action, don’t run into the gunfight, duck behind it.

I just hate the lightrifle CTF in general, honestly never knew how much aim assist the LR had. My first game ever playing that game type I got 82 & 11. Really, what a dumb gametype.

> in a situation like that, most people want to avoid starting the game like that, so they attempt to Sprint out of the killbox immediately.

I’m shocked at how many players I’ve seen doing this on Simplex. It just makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone.

I guess until 343i might turn off FF in this game type it’s just a matter of becoming more disciplined at taking your shots, especially right out of the killbox when the match starts.

I am astonished at how adept some players are in getting kills so much and so fast in this game type and the insta spawn kills are rather annoying.

Honestly, I’ve never had so many unintentional betrayals since I started playing L-CTF last week.

I think FF needs to be removed from this game type. I played a game on Relay the other night and was betrayed 5 times by the same person. I never got the option to boot but I got very frustrated after the 2nd time and decided to watch the kill cam on subsequent betrayals. All of them I can’t really blame him for though. In the cams you can see where he would zoom and try to strafe (albeit rather large movements) against an opponent, and during the strafe he hits me in the back.

There are times I have betrayed someone else as I kill an opponent and my teammate rounds the corner at the wrong time. I have not been booted yet thank god.

Sounds like your teammate has bigger issues than just the betrayal. I would send him a box of cookies and a fleshlight if I were you. Who rages in action sack, I mean, honestly?
