Who here thinks their should at least be a Halo 2 Anniversary? I mean for God sake they need to do that they teased us with that 11yh terminal, so they ought to make it. Am I right?
I never played Halo 2. SO YES!!!
> I never played Halo 2. SO YES!!!
Grunt chanting
“Heretic! Heretic! Heretic!”
It’s the best one.
They will do it, stop you panicking!
Yes they should. Would love to play Delta Halo, Outskirts, Metropolis and Cairo Station with -Yoink!- new graphics. New sounds to make the weapons sound less like pea shooters.
They should go further then they did with CEA too. New optional levels (like the releasing the demo level for play or they level where the chief was supposed to take out the carrier, and new optional AI (modified brute and jackal sniper behavior) as options or skulls.
Expand the Library Feature too, more terminals…yeah
Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary was gift from 343 Industries. Besides, Halo Combat Evolved was the game that started the series, it just doesn’t seem right to remake all 3 games in the main trilogy.
I’m not saying that I don’t like Halo 2, it’s just that 343 Industries took the time to remake the first Halo game and enhance it with remastered music and graphics plus the skulls and terminals. Shouldn’t we just be thankful that they remade Halo CE instead of asking a remake of the sequel right away?
You know, this communities obsession with remakes disturbs me. Instead of Halo 2 Anniversary, why not a new Halo Wars or ODST game or a Forerunner game? Why not something original?

A Forerunner game would be interesting, providing more insight into the Forerunners history.

Yeah, not even so much more insight as a visual-audio insight. The world of the Forerunners is fascinating through the novels, but I’ve got to admit, it’s hard to truly capture the scale of everything Greg talks about through just written words. I don’t have a solid, cemented image of what a Forerunner should look like in my head, for example. I also don’t have a true sense of the imagery or the panic of the Forerunner Capital being attacked by Mendicant Bias. I read about it, but it all felt like there was a wall between me and the text, if you will. It’s not really vivid enough.
I want to know what that all looked like - sounded like. You know what I mean? Cementing some of the Forerunner canon into a video game would be nice. I’m a reader by nature so I don’t necessarily mind only reading about this stuff, but compared to the rest of the Halo universe, it’s just strange to have my mind fill in this many of the blanks in the Forerunner fiction.
That said, back to the topic:
I would not like a Halo 2 Anniversary. The long and short of it is this: while Combat Evolved Anniversary got a lot of stuff right, it also did a lot of stuff in grandiose mediocre fashion. A few examples: lack of 4:3 aspect ratio support, overdone MoCap, bad facial animation, lots of invisible barriers in Anniversary mode that are actually trees in Classic mode, overdone new audio (specifically the gun handling being louder than guns firing). Those are just examples. Another one that deserves its own discussion point is the lack of classic multiplayer. But that’s a discussion for another thread.
My point is this: if Halo 2 Anniversary could avoid all of these small developmental problems, I’d love that. However, these aren’t full blown development projects, as Combat Evolved Anniversary is proven; hence, I don’t think it would avoid them well enough. So that said, I would love a port of Halo 2. Give me the original game with HD support and maybe a new feature or two and that’s all I want out of Halo 2.
While there is no true guarantee they will do this it would be foolish to not. Halo 2 brought FPS competitive console gaming to the forefront. Its was a major turning point and with Reach straying so far from the core mechanics and feel of the Halo franchise and incorporating elements from other big name games such as COD to attract a larger audience.
It has kinda made the original audience feel left behind and forgotten for the next generation.(myself and many of my friends share this view as we all were Halo players long before Reach.
343 is trying to bring Reach closer to its roots with the Updates and it seems 343 is wants to get back to the Halo roots over all.

Good post imo. Let’s hope your last sentence is true.
Hell I don’t need a remake I just want a port that doesn’t have messed up graphics. I don’t have an original xbox to play it on, and if you’ve played it on a 360 you’ll notice on some levels a kind of double background. Like an after image or double exposure. Spice it up with bonus graphics like CEA sure but there is no point in redoing #3. I originally wanted CEA to be redone with Reach’s engine but after going through CEA I can honestly say I’m GLAD they didn’t. It’s classic, nothing needed to be changed. It’s the same with #2, just rerelease it for the 360.

Then you missed out on the funnest multiplayer and campaign experience ever.

Amen. No greater game in the history of mankind will ever be on par to the majesty of Halo 2. Only Bungie had the supreme knowledge to manifest the greatness of God into disc form.

I’ve been talking about a new ODST game but everyone says screw that.

I agree.
