Being new to the Insider forum, I was curious about the level of experience we have and who among us has already participated in a flight. If so, what was your flight experience like?
I would also like to know. im very exited to see if i can participate in one for the first time as well.
I’m pretty sure no flights have been conducted although there is chatter of some happening over the summer so keep your eye put for any emails from them

Do you mean flights for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo: Infinite, or just flights in general?

Flights just in general. I was just wanting to know about other Spartans experiences if they were able to participate in flights before.

I have participated in several myself. The flights can be buggy but when reported they are generally ironed out before the release of the Season/game. The flights can be bittersweet, however, with the content shown being subject to change or complete removal from the final release.
Ive participated in all the flights up until now and i gotta say ive enjoyed every single one. Being able to test and see what up next is fun and ofcourse it also makes friends jalouse cause they want to play too. But its not for everyone the flight have often been very buggy, but then again that what u signed up for. the whole reason they do these flights is so that feedback can be given and bugs can be fixed. I often see other insiders complaining on how buggy things are, and i get it but that what u were invited for. U or we are the only way they can thoroughly test what they have, because lets be honest some of us know the games like the backs of our hands so we will be able to tell if somethings off or bugged.
In short being in a flight can sometimes be suffering but its to make our favorite game the best it can be for new players.
And i still find it hella fun!
I enjoy the Flights; it’s different from just a closed beta because they interact more with the people invited to get feedback. It feels nice to be able to help out in making a release of something go smoother.
nice yeah from what i gathered the flights sound cool hopefully i can do some myself
I’ve participated in all the MCC flights since the Reach multiplayer flights. What was it like? Well, you got a limited verison of MCC with content from maybe one or two games. There are scheduled play times. You can play the flight whenever but those times are the best times to find multiplayer games through matchmaking. It’s not impossible outside of those times, just very hard. Earlier on it was extremely easy to find games, in the later flights I found it increasingly more difficult to get a game, even during the scheduled times.
With the early flights I participated in it was really annoying. A flight usually runs a week or so and may get patches during the flight. What would end up happening is you would submit bug reports, they would patch some bugs, and then the game would release pretty much in the same exact state as it was in the last update from the flight. That means bugs that you had reported but didn’t get fixed ended up in the final game. Then people in the broader Halo community (particularly those that didn’t get invited to the flight) get upset with the insiders because they didn’t think we found the bugs and were just fooling around. Personally, I don’t think being an insider is really about catching bugs. I think it is more about giving experience based feedback (things like “how did the game run?” and “what did you think of this feature”) rather than anything else.
Earlier on the flights were more exclusive. This was a pretty contentious issue. It always seemed like streamers got preferential treatment with the flight invites. Personally, I always have felt that the flights should be open to everyone enrolled in the insider program. If they need feedback from people running certain hardware they they should develop a system that can target/ collect feedback from those people in lieu of restricting the number of players in the flight.
TheGoldenChief1 pretty much nailed it. I was running MCC insider flights on a PC with a 270 and a gig of ram. Now I’m on a 580 with 8gigs of ram. With my experience with flights, I pretty much did all since Halo CE MCC for PC. Some people experienced lag with waterfall or the edge map while I never did

I got an email but at the end it says “If your email is valid and verified, we won’t be able to send you flight invitation emails”, what do you want us to do with that? Can someone explain it to me better? How do I know which email the invitation reaches me?
Same here I’m excited to be able to participate!!

What you need to do is go here and sign in with your insider account. On that page, you need to have green checkmarks. Under the settings section, it shows the email address you would have had to verify. It should say Verified: <emailaddress>. Under flighting, once again you should have green checkmarks. Under the platforms you selected to flight on, you should have the text “Currently Opted In” and under flighting availability you should have the text “Completed”.
If you have your green checkmarks on your insider profile page then you’re ready to go. I’m 99% sure that email was supposed to say “If your email is not valid and verified…” rather than “If your email is valid and verified…” I’m pretty sure that is a long standing typo that in the end doesn’t matter too much. They stopped sending flight invitations through email ever since the Halo 2 PC flights. Everything is done right here through Halo Waypoint, and I’d imagine they’d do the same for Infinite. You still need to verify your email address to get email notifications for when flights start and so they can send you feedback surveys.

Awesome info Gonme! And thank you to everyone who’ve answered and made questions so far! Let’s help make a great new game!
Been into every flight and I honestly think that this format is great. Every bit of feedback that I have provided has always been answered or further expanded on. The guys who are scurrying through all the feedback are doing a great job.
I hope that once the flights for Halo: Infinte comes around, people actually provides feedback on bugs, potential balancing etc. to make the launch as good as it can be.
Would love to participate someday
Hey there, been flighting for quite a few years now. Only advice I can give is make sure to play a lot and take notes. Make sure to be involved with forum discussions a lot and to make sure to let the developers know your thoughts. If you experience bugs and glitches, make sure to report them. Your help makes the game better!
Ive been in all of the flights except Reach and ODST and I will say it’s pretty much the same experience as playing the full release of the game. They just have you playing certain things so they can see results and catch any bugs that are reported by players.
