I’m just curious. Before 343 gave recon to everybody, who here actually EARNED the recon armor set in Halo 3? I would like to know your experiences earning the armor.
I did!!! I stayed up all night long when the game came out to get the vidmaster achievements. I remember the rough time my friends and I were having to get through the last level though. Man, it was tough. I was so excited when we beat it though and I earned that Recon armor.

I’ve always had fun with the vidmasters. They’re not really that difficult so long as you enter with the right mindset. Endure was only tricky due to the dodgy servers ODST had.
Me, it was tough grinding for those vidmasters back in ODST but it was a rewarding experience. Endure was the toughest I had to retry 3 times before actually completing it.
I did. I remember earning Recon and helping all my friends do the same after ODST came out. Those Vidmaster Achievements are pretty tough
I did. I remember doing the vidmasters and really hating one of them (I remember one of the achievements being a real pain in the -Yoink-).
I remember when got Recon on my account when i unlock Vidmaster and Endure achievements it was one the best days in my life at time knowing that few halo player ever did the achievement at time because it was hard to do the achievements. I can do the both achievements now no problem because i now have experience on how do it, because i help other halo player get it. I must did that Vidmaster and Endure achievements over 30 time to help other spartan player unlock the Recon helmet. The biggest problem to get both achievements is the lag playing with 4 player co-op and getting 4 player co-op to do the achievements on same day also same time. I remember having to redo the mission over again because someone lag out of game by lagging out game. The game play mission was was not hard to do it just that getting 4 player from different part of the worlds to not lag out was the biggest problem getting the achievements.

I didnt unlock The Recon armor in 3 but i did earn it in Reach and it was freaking painful BTW I unlocked the Reach Recon Armor bout a week ago
So if anyone want Recon in Reach you all still have a chance

Me too this vidmasters where really challenging to complete but a i really want the armor
I earned my Recon armor by completing one of the hidden challenges in the Bungie Vs. The World playlist, Bungie Day 2009. That was one helluva ride… I was so desperate to get the armor, I played almost the entire day, right up until the playlist closed.
I got plenty of rude messages after that if I ever showed up in a game wearing Recoc; “yo why u haz Recon ur not even good”. This was mostly from people I’d beaten using weapons or tactics that were only for “noobs”, like the Assault Rifle, Shotgun, Energy Sword, Gravity Hammer, anything you can dual-wield (I was especially fond of the dual Spikers in Halo 3); I kicked their -Yoinks!- using anything that wasn’t a Battle Rifle, and suddenly all I see “-Yoinking!- scrub you don’t deserve recon i hope you get hacked!”.
Right here some of the hardest gaming back in the day honestly love my recon though and proud to rock it knowing I EARNED it all the way!
The Vidmasters came out about three years after I really got into Halo (and finally got XBL and a gamertag), and as soon as they were available I set about achieving them. Didn’t really know much about Recon because I was playing Halo 2 up until the launch of ODST, where I just got and used the multiplayer disc. Endure definitely was the hardest, just due to the lag issues.
I never played halo back in 2007, in fact i never heard of an xbox. I was accustomed to my ps2. Then once I got my xbox in 2010, I got in to Halo. To this day I still don’t have recon, but am determined to go back to get the achievements I don’t have for ODST and H3.

I did not but i tried the annual vidmaster i think the ghost one like 5 times but someone would quit half way through
