Who else thinks the Spartan Laser sucks.

It is a terrible weapon, only four shots and doesn’t kill what it hits. Not to mention it does not have aim assist(plus the maps it appears on makes it more useless do to the amount of cover on it)Please 343 make the laser a power weapon like it was in H3.At least in H3 it did what it was intended to do kill stuff.Session data

It has aim assist.

At what close range that’s helpful I have yet to see it.Session data

I agree. The spartan laser should be more usefull indeed. 343 should change how it behaves at close range.

In my opinion, it either needs more splash damage (a la Halo 3) or two more shots.

Forum glitch?

My mind. You wrote it.

When the laser makes contact with a vehicle, it should destroy it. I’ve skinned a vehicle far more than ever destroyed it. I liked how it worked a lot more in the beta. It painted so smoothly.

It may “suck” in comparison to Halo 3, but I still think it is overpowered compared to Rockets/FRG/PL.

Its not for infantry which is why you find it on big maps with vehicles. With skill though it is great for slaying an individual. I have no problem with it and IMO their are bigger and better things to focus on with this broke game atm. I mean who needs aim assist to hit a wraith.

I absolutely loved it in Halo 3, used it at every opportunity that presented itself - which was often. Especially having it on more enclosed maps like Construct was awesome, people often didn’t expect it.

That’s not to say I don’t like it in Reach, I still use it at every possible chance I get. But it’s just not on enough maps. Thank goodness for some of the community big team maps that included it! To be honest, I feel that this is part of a larger issue of diversification that Bungie has struggled with in terms of weapon placement over Halos 2, 3 and Reach. Too many of the same weapons placed in every map (eg shotgun, sniper, rockets) when they could use a variety of alternatives.

On top of that, the laser has been substantially weakened - but I can live with that. Still, if Halo 4 had it again in all it’s Halo 3 glory, I for one would be a very happy little spartan!

I have had no problems with the Spartan Laser. I have been able to destroy both vehicles and individual, on land or air, near and far. It requires much more precise aiming than in H3, but for a weapon THAT powerful it only sounds fair to me. I agree there are more important things.

They nerfed it a bit much in Reach, but still, seeing how vehicles got nerfed even more, i think its fair that it takes 2 shots to take out a tank.
+You can just shoot the turret off and the tank is useless.

The weapon is as good as it is. Bungie left it alone because in any case we would complain more about it. I believe 343 shouldn’t change a damn thing about it. I also wish they would leave Armor Lock alone. Making it weaker is a terrible idea. Every shot, strike, melee and it degrades the time you have to sit in it. It’s already enough you’re immobile and possibly surrounded.

I’ve never been a fan of the Spartan Laser.

I have had no problems using the Spartan Laser.

Its nowhere near as useful as the Halo 3 variant but its still really good.

Exactly.

Keep in mind folks, the rockets take time to hit their target and it is very easy to miss as well as having to be relatively close to the target.

The Plasma Launcher is easy to avoid and takes time to charge.

The FRG is a bit easier to use than Rockets due to the amount of shot you can fire.

The Spartan Laser can instantly hit a vehicle across the map with little to no warning…

Out of those weapons the Spartan Laser is clearly the most overpowered. Its a GOOD thing that they made it less effective by doing a little less damage and lowering the amount of ammo by 1.

I think its ammo-energy should be returned to Halo 3’s 5 shots, should the weapon return in Halo 4.

> I think its ammo-energy should be returned to Halo 3’s 5 shots, should the weapon return in Halo 4.

I simply think that the Halo 3 version should be used, with an updated model of course.

Yes and one person can destroy 5 vehicles with it and by that time the new laser will be up…>_>

To be honest it’s really no worse than a sniper rifle. Those things can wreck teams and are a much greater danger to the scoreboard than 4 or 5 shots of a laser.
