It’s an improvement to Reach but it’s definitely no Halo 2. They really should’ve went back to the old gameplay design. Also no ranking system at launch, and lacking playlists is really disappointing as well. But overall the gameplay just isn’t that great with all these CoD changes tact on, playlists and ranking can only help it so much but it definitely needs them. Also the CTF is a downgrade IMO, but the oddball is actually pretty fun. King of hill on adrift is pretty good also.
Also if Halo Reach was your first Halo experience then I could see why you’d like it, but this is mainly asking the people from H1/2 how they feel about it. What do you guys think?
> What about Slayer Pro? The videos I watched looks like it would be fun.
I like it to a degree. I’d rather have a classic slayer kind of playlist. It’s ok but IMO they should’ve had a playlist like this with radar on, 2 grenades, weapons on map and old power weapon spawns instead of ordinance with markers. Also I think the loadouts should’ve been either BR/DMR & Pistol only or BR/DMR and AR, but I don’t think there should be an AR loadout by itself.
Halo 4 looks good. It’s multi-player definitely looks better than Halo: Reachs and Halo 3’s. Halo 2 and Halo 1 had their problems. But seeing as how I don’t have as much experience with Halo 2’s multi-player and little to none with Halo 1, I can’t really say.
However, I think you’re being clouded by nostalgia of Halo 2/1. Halo 2/1’s multi-player had it’s problems. To think it’s perfect and without fault is foolish.

I’m not saying they didn’t have their faults, especially Halo 3. I just think the subtle gameplay of old was just a lot more of a solid and enjoyable experience overall. That saying a little goes a long way… if you will.
> I’d rather play a game that isn’t just a remake from almost 10 years ago, It’d be extremely boring.
I hear this a lot but it’s just not how I feel. When I go back to lan some H1 & 2 it’s just so much fun, and even playing H3 online. None of them have ever gotten boring to me, infact it’s the only series of video games that no matter how much I played never was boring to me (excluding Reach). I’d be content with an exact copy of H1 or 2 with online new graphics or not, preferably new graphics.
That being said I don’t think they need to be exact copies at all, they can still change things up without going through a complete overhaul of the series similar to how H1-3 were different. H4 is just too much IMO.
Basically your a sour bitter old fan who wants a Halo 2 remake ? Well even if you got that it still wouldn’t be as good. You still won’t be able to mimic the experience and fun you had playing with your friends. Halo 4 is here to stay so you either grow to like it or leave the franchise.

Halo 2’s launch, if memory serves me correctly was terrible. Something about the BR being worthless or the carbine being OP. Dual wielding was a mess for the entirety of Halo 2, SMG or BR starts dictated what type of match you had and what playstyle you had to go for. Noob combo, BXR, etc.
Nostalgia clouds your view of Halo 2. It clouds mine of Halo 3 much of the time I think about Halo 3. Then I go play Halo 3 again and I’m quickly reminded of how bad these past games were.
I think each game improves on the past games.
No more AR starts for me, that’s one of the greatest changes to me which makes Halo 4 probably one of the best, if not the best multi-player experiences. Though, I’ll have to play it and play it for a long time before I decide if it’s the best or not…
If you want to play a Halo 2 like game… Go play Halo 2. I love the fact that Halo 4 is different than other Halo games. I don’t want to play the same game over and over again. Thats CoD’s job
And for the record, Halo 2’s Multiplayer was terrible. The combination of modders and cheaters, mixed with a terrible ranking system (win 10 games, level up… lose 1 game, level down = stupid) made matchmaking ridiculous. The entire game consisted of the BR and a Plasma Pistol.
I do not want another Halo 2 or 3. I don’t even want the ranking system that went along with those games. They need to add a reach like rating system for rank
ex. play 15 games, get a rating. Play 15 more, get a new rating. That way you can strive for improvement rather than hitting 50 and nothing happens.

Halo 3 was my first online Halo experience and I still liked (TU) Reach better. Why are you only asking the people who were around for H1/H2? Do our opinions not matter?
I’ve played both Halo 2 and Halo 1 online, and I still prefer TU Reach.
Honestly, since we’ve had Halo 3 and Reach for the past 5 years, there hasn’t been a fast-paced Halo like this since Halo 2. From all the gameplay I see it just seems fun and just a better overall experience. I will wait to judge the game myself, but just the movement and the pace of the game will make or break it for me. The things that are tacked on don’t really affect me. I get to use the BR and wreck people, that won’t change.
The multiplayer not up to your personal likings =/= the multiplayer being “bad.”
Just cause it is not your own cup of tea doesnt mean that is not good. Try not to let the joys of nostalgia cloud your views. All that ends up causing is extremely high standards.

Biggest flaw in Halo CE was the -Yoink!- sidearm was the most powerful gun in the game.
Halo 2 was good AFTER the title update. How quickly people forget.
Halo 3 had the BR which trumped everything else, coupled with terrible network code.
So yeah, the memories of those games are better than the actual games themselves. I loved all of them, but they sure weren’t without their problems.
Lets not forget the plague of cheating when the map packs for Halo 2 came out. Not to mention the exploits of broken map geometry, BXR, and rocket/sword exploit.
The past games were not perfect. This one won’t be either, but I know I’ll love it because I’ve loved every Halo game so far.
