who else thinks that odst had the best campaign?

I feel that Halo 3: ODST had the best campaign out of any Halo. I loved the feel of the dark night walking in the rain alone trying to solve a mystery. I thought it was fantastic and was so much better than all the linear campaigns of 1,2,3 and Reach. Does any one else not love this campaign or am I the only one?

There is no rain in ODST (except for the soundtrack).
If it was 2 times longer I would say, it’s better than Halo 3. But it’s not. However Reach eats both in sense of action and atmosphere. ODST New Mombasa’s pseudo-sandbox isn’t that big deal for me.

It felt like you were alone, but it was not very scare, thunder in the soundtrack would have helped

It was good, but not the best campaign.

ODST is my favorite halo (and I’ve played the others) so my answer is 100000000000% YES

IMO, the best campaign was halo 2. That was simply becasue i could go anywhere, and there were so many easter eggs that going anywhere was encouraged. None of the other games had any massive amount of exploration, which saddened me as that was the most fun part. I loved looking for all the easter eggs and found most of the skulls by myself, without the use of guides, simply becasue i loved exploring.

But thats off topic.

Odsts campaign was funaminal as well. You got to see a new side of the stroy not previously explored, and you got to see how the cleanup went after the cheifs voyage to Delta Halo. However, thats the one thing i found saddening. I didn tget to play Delta Hao with the cheif XD.

Anyway, i think that ODST may have had the best characterization out of all the previous ones, save for of course the arbiters story in halo 2 and 3.

ODST’s campaign was second only to HAlo 2.

It was also the first Halo game that did not have the FLood anywhere, and i really enjoyed that.

The exploration was top-natch for a HAlo game.Visit an awesome area and then return later to see it destroyed?Awesome.

I’ve only played:
Combat Evolved (Anniversary version)
Halo 3
Halo 3 ODST
Halo Reach

in terms of my favorite campaign it goes from greatest to least.

Halo Reach
Halo 3 ODST
Halo Combat Evolved
Halo 3

I’m debating on renting a Halo 2 and playing the story instead of waiting to see if 343 re-makes Halo 2

I love this campaign. I replay it more than any other game’s campaign. However, I would say it only beats the Reach and Wars campaigns. I just love the tale of the Chief and Arbiter much more. ODST is certainly the most under rated Halo game, though. That saddens me because this really is a gem among shooters.

I thought the Halo 3:ODST campaign was really good

I liked how you could free roam and unlocked those weapon cache areas that had vehicles and stuff. The campaign to me was OK but i was more into the freeroam and exploring the city. In the campaign liked how it was a little more challenging though

I had an absolute blast with ODST’s campaign. I loved how the atmosphere had completely changed from night to day. I also like the unsung hero part of it. The story itself was not a good one, however, the way in which it was told is world class.

No.

The atmosphere of it was great, but the copy and paste level design (especially Data Hive) and short length overall kill it.

Should have been a 1200 XBLA game at most.

It was like the others, good

Halo 2 and ODST’s campaign rival each other in gameplay in my opinion. I can’t decide which is better.

If you recall Bungie wanted to release it as a 30 or 40 dollar game because its wasn’t a long campaign and its other feature firefight didn’t have matchmaking. Microsoft told them it has to be a full priced game in which case they added the complete Halo 3 multiplayer which made up for the price tag.

As for the topic I really enjoyed finishing the fight so Halo 3 is my fave but ODST’s was very very good. I hope 343i eventually does some games like ODST and Reach that shows other sides of the Halo Universe.

I too thought ODST was the best of the Halo games, as far as single player. They took a HUGE risk in making the game they way they did, and for me, it paid off.

For me it was the most memorable campaign right behind CE, the other games were like play & forget.

It could use some work.

loved it to death. better than 3 and 2 in my book. i have been playing halo for ten years and it was for sure one of the most memorable games ive played
