To begin with this is in concern with the Crimson Map Pack. I purchased the Map Pass, and woke up to realize that the map pass owners were not able to download the maps for free yet. " No big deal I thought, I’ll just check later " So around three this evening I go to check the store and It’s available for free. Now I’m discovering that it was available for free for everyone.
For LE and Map pass owners who are freaking out, I’m having trouble understanding what your upset about. You got your maps for free, it just so happens so did some other people. You still got the product you paid for, that does not mean you should have a say in what others get for different prices (or none at all). You are not entitled to a refund because of what other people are doing.
If I have anyone to feel bad for it’s 343, these free downloads are coming out of their pockets. I can’t blame people for getting free maps, I can however be happy that there are so many people to play the maps with.
As an aside, some people don’t enjoy the maps because they are not small or symmetrical. Then there are some people who think the maps are garbage whether they got them for free or have a LE copy in their fist. These are opinons, not every one in the world has your preferences. Personally I enjoy bigger maps and think ascetically 343 added some nice scenery to the game.
In sum, you got what you paid for, stop getting riled up over what other people got.
People are complaining because the Crimson Map Pack is 3 BTB maps and not smaller maps. People want a balance of BTB and Regular maps. What people aren’t understanding however is this was Microsofts blame, not 343. Microsoft distributed the map pack on the marketplace but like always the Halo community blames the Game Dev when Microsoft controls the XBL Marketplace.
It’s nothing new with the community, Halo became the worst after Halo 4. I’m stil wondering if I should just be done with the forums and just come here to check my K/D
> In sum, you got what you paid for, stop getting riled up over what other people got.
Exactly. We payed for a notepad, and a letter in a red envelope. Well worth the $40 extra dollars.
Yea, no. We did not get what we paid for, if what we paid for was free in the first place.
I respect what you said but do rememeber that the gamers who spend their money have a right to complain about issues around the product they bought. However with that said in mind they should do it in a manner thats mature. I dont see how coming to the fourms will fix anything. Thats why players need to be phoning Xbox. The hate threads that keep popping are not gonna get anything done. Yes players who are not happy can voice thier options but attacting 343 with hate and anger wont help the cause. Im sure in time 343 will post something to explain the issue. I also dont hold 343 accountable for the Map Pack issue. Thats MS. This isnt the first time that iv seen something go wrong with DLC. Iv seen Tu also cause problems and thats not the deveolopers fault, thats MS.

If I recall correctly, you got:
1 Halo 4 - $60
1 Map Pass - $20
1 Extended Forward Onto Dawn - $10
and extra in game content. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Because of a simple glitch on Microsofts end. Seriously how -Yoinking!- hard is it to grasp the nature of the situation.

We didn’t get anything for free. We spent the 2000 Microsoft Points to ensure we were getting a deal on the Map Packs. People who spent the 2000 points just lost money over this ordeal.
So we paid money while others didn’t have to for the same content. Thus, we don’t have a right to complain?
Seems like your logic is backwards, OP.

How is paying for something that was free a good deal?
Paying for a free product is sure way to stifle some anger

$60 for Halo 4, given
$16.70 for Map pass (2/3 of Map Pass amount)
and $0 for extended Forward onto Dawn. Saw these on youtube day before release, so got nothing out of it. It was a link to watch it on waypoint, when I watched the same stuff on youtube. (yes, even the extended parts)
Still sound good?
Exactly, you paid for your maps and you got them.
Customers have a right to complain about faulty products, true.
But this is a fault of distribution, not the product itself. From a legal or rights perspective, I don’t think half the people complaining have a case to stand on.
People that downloaded the map pack for free shouldn’t be punished. And LE/Map Pass owners got the maps for free.
343i and Microsoft have no legal necessity to act here. But you could argue there’s a moral one.

Doesn’t matter how, its still free to players without LE/map pass.
I don’t think that people are overreacting. HOWEVER I do believe that people have some much misplaced aggression. Allow me to focus all y’all’s anger if I may.
Currently MS says that all digital sales are final. I just started (today) a petition on Change.org with the aims of asking the congress to pass a law that will require all organizations that offer a service or product to consumers for monetary compensation to honor refund requests, even for digital content.
Here is the link if you’d like to sign. I need at least 100 signatures. http://www.change.org/petitions/congress-require-all-industries-to-offer-refunds-for-any-services-products-2?utm_campaign=autopublish&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition&utm_term=11706804

Nothing will convince the OP that paying for something that was free is not considered a “good deal”.

Forward Onto Dawn has an amazing behind the scenes that I thought would have ended three times before it did. You should take the time to watch it.
And yes with FOTD it’s a good deal.

You have a right to complain to MS for not sticking to its terms with you. You dont have the right to complain that someone else got a better deal, regardless of how it happened.
Are you that annoyed with the fact people in Asia payed 1/10th the price of what you did for the LE pack? Or peeved that someone in your street pays less rent than you do?
Same principle. They got a better deal than you did, complain to those who own the merchandise and sold you it at that price. But dont blame or condemn another customer if you feel you got stiffed and they didnt. They (the customer) did nothing wrong.
> So we paid money while others didn’t have to for the same content. Thus, we don’t have a right to complain?

Doesnt this happen all the time though in some form? People can now buy halo 4 for $40 dollars in Retail, or $35 on Amazon. Should I demand compensation because I paid 60, while someone else will pay $35?
