In the terminal we see at 0:36 very very briefly just as the arbiter says “the prohpets named me” we see and elite heading into battle holding the janus key!
Just saying.
IMO it’s too big to be a piece of the key. A key piece should look like this in the the hand of a Sangheili.
That thing looks way too big in the trailer. Though it’s definitely Forerunner. Plus it just wouldn’t make any sense for a piece of the key to be present during this time period.
It’s possible that these were Zealots that were sent out to retrieve some random artifact. What that artifact is I have no clue but for all we know it could mean nothing. The Covenant would’ve collected random Forerunner junk all the time during this period and it could just end up being a plot device to put Thel in an interesting situation.

Good Spot, although the resemblance is very clear. perhaps somthing similar?

Definitely too big to be a piece of the Janus Key, let alone the whole key. That looks like something else entirely.
It looks similar, but it’s way too big to be the Janus Key.
Probably just similar artistry in forerunnr designs. There’s also a janus key shape in the forerunenr “Eld” logo.
Probably has something to do with their faith in the mantle, like a cross.
I don’t think it is the Janus key but it does resemble it in a way. definitely looks Forerunner.
