This is a thread where people post that they have beaten Halo 4 on Legendary and share strategies. I beat it a few days ago and it was my second run. My first run was on Normal, then I went to Legendary, with no Heroic run, then I bounced around Normal and Heroic afterwards.
And it was really frustrating in some parts. Such as Midnight (I had a hard time beating the first few knights because of lack of ammo…), Composer, like that part where you have to close the hangar doors so the Covies won’t get in from there. I don’t think it’s infinitly spawning Covies, and if so, just pick them off one by one then go close the door.
So, who else beat the game on Legendary? If so, just post here saying you beat it and give strategies for those struggling while I eat shrimp.
I did it solo.take your time, and the enemy of my enemy only work for a few lvls, use the power weapons, and be at range till 1-3 guys are left and go in CQ
Auto sentry is more of a distraction for you to sneak around for (A)getting asassinations on knights or elites(B)getting ammo or (C)-Yoink-
my main arsenal in forerunner dominant levels were the light rifle and a toss between the pro pistol or the scattershot(depending on what was more in numbers between knights or crawlers)
Take your time and watch for those jackal and crawler snipers!
First level is basically just spraying til you get a br to headshot everything.
Second level, kill grunts and jackals first, then go for the elites one at a time. Try and pull them away. Once you get camo, go for the same strategy til you have one or two elites left. Use camo and sneak for the assassinations.
Third level, watchers first where you can, kill crawlers that are in shooting range, and save the knights for last. You will probably burn some ammo into the knights since they teleport a lot. Once you knock that shield off, you have a window where you can put in a few more shots. Take advantage of that if you can. Once you get the ghost and you have to take out the covenant and those 3 objectives, out of the door, splatter the elite, and boost to the left and around. Theres a cave that you can sit in and use as cover. Better than the rock by the banshee. Kill what you can. Take it slow. Near the end of the level, try and sprint by most of the enemies. Much easier that way.
Every other mission is basically repeating that.
On Shutdown, however, always keep the incinerator cannon and take a shotgun from the armory before you leave. Great for killing knights quickly. If you can skip enemies by rushing to the gondola, go for it. And rapidly switch weapons with one on the ground to keep a good amount of ammo around for extra weapons.
Thats really all I got.
I luckily got through shutdown with only a couple of voluntary deaths (a dmr I had got stuck in the ground, jumped off to try and get it back.)
I have 5 strategies i woud like to share: ( yes i obviously beat it on Legendary)
STRATEGY NUMBER 1: THE PLASMA PISTOL IS YOUR BEST FRIEND!!
seriously this little baby must be your first priority in any level not only can it shorten the kill time for elites but also for the Promethean Knights. could also be helpful in dealing with pesky ghosts
STRATEGY NUMBER 2: HE WHO RUNS AWAY, LIVES TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY
some battles in the campaign are better of ignoring… dont be Rambo just choose your fights carefully. this is really helpful for the third mission.
STRATEGY NUMBER 3 : THE BANE OF KNIGHTS IS…
the SCATTERSHOT!! this is by far the best way to kill those pesky knights two shots should kill the normal knight
STRATEGY NUMBER 4: SHOPPING
one of the hardest things about Halo 4 is that ammo for good weopons is usually scarce ( im looking at you mr. DMR ) so dont be afraid to backtrack to areas with ammo crates.
STRATEGY NUMBER 5: AUTOSENTRY SAVES LIVES
one AA you should always use in Legendary is the Autosentry. seems like the enemy A.I 's top priority is these things rather than you so use this to your advantage.
Here’s a playlist I put together featuring strategies I discovered (afaik).
STRATEGY NUMBER 1: THE NEEDLER IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND!!
The plasma pistol runs out of ammo really quickly not to mention Knights require several headshots after losing their shield. The Needler wipes them out with 1 supercombine. Though Generals/Warriors might take 2 supercombines.
STRATEGY NUMBER 2: HE WHO THINKS CREATIVELY CAN PLAY HOWEVER HE WANTS
Some battles are better off skipping but it is possible to engage them with maximum aggression, Rambo style. Though I prefer stealth.
STRATEGY NUMBER 3 : THE BANE OF KNIGHTS IS…
Their own blade. When I was up against Battlewagons, I was getting pwned over and over again. These guys are spiritual successors of CE Zealots. -Yoinking!- mean and scary! Close the distance before they fire or jump and assassinate.
STRATEGY NUMBER 4: WATCH OUT FOR LOADING POINTS
They are very vicious in Halo 4. Often you’ll find yourself stuck in a room with no ammo simply because access to the previous room has been cut off. Also, they tend to delete dropped weapons. Lastly, some points can force you out of your vehicle, blow it up, or deload it. Most importantly, be sure to pick up a dropped weapon if you want to use it later. That’ll prolong it’s disappearing.
STRATEGY NUMBER 5: AUTOSENTRY SAVES LIVES, MARINES ARE WEAPON CARRIERS
Autosentry is the new Hologram. And saving marines can be worthwhile in the long run (except on Reclaimer, they’re irrelevant on that mission).
STRATEGY NUMBER 6: (to be continued)
Also, check out the Mythic players and speedrunners. They make this game way too easy.
All fine strats, on the mission with the pelican pass up the two pillars that have you use the gondola and head straight to the Delta checkpoint tower. Saves a lot of time and frustration.
