Who designed the campaign levels?

have they ever played Halo.

The level design is terrible you walk out of one choke point to another with no really decent cover except the cover being used by the enemy.

I have played through all the Halos and have completed quite a few on Legendary and this has to be the most frustrating of them all. I walk out of a tunnel no cover for me yet my enemy has all it needs. Or I try to get to a vantage point only to find it’s anything but that.

Halo is about you outwitting your enemy and not out gunning this new one plays like I’m online. I have to constantly strafe if I want to actually kill anything without being killed. Really makes for a tedious campaign. Well done 343 in this steaming pile of a game.

Online is good though, so you got something right at least.

> I have to constantly strafe if I want to actually kill anything without being killed. Really makes for a tedious campaign.

Oh god… You have to put some actual effort into beating the campaign on the hardest difficulty? The achievement isn’t just handed to you on a silver platter? Why 343? Why? You monsters! Won’t somebody think of the children?!

-.-

It’s always been like that on legendary you schmuck.

Sounds like you are having trouble on Halo 4’s campaign.

It is great. Has many of the same map themes as the past Halos.

This was the easiest Halo on legendary for me, don’t know what’s up with you. Never had problem finding cover.

I had a different experience. I found cover when I needed it…I also loved how they placed ammo/guns just when I needed them but I had to be smart to find them, get them and return to cover. I also LOVED provoking a Knight to charge then side stepping and finally blasting him in the face with the Scattershot…good times.

I agree with you.

Remember, it’s not always about the cover directly between you and the enemy. Use distance and angles to gain an advantage, and always fall back if things seem too frantic.

I expected the Promethean’s to be somewhat difficult for a while until I adapted to their tactics but that didn’t last long. Don’t get me wrong they are great enemies but they arn’t much more difficult than the Covenant.

I think the level design in Halo 4 is amazing, the first 4 mission on Legendary I didn’t even die on because I took my time, conserved my ammo and played things smart. But the key thing is about it all, I still have fun.

Each level is a lot different to the other. The graphics and especially Forerunner design is amazing. The first time I walked into the Forerunner halls on Reclaimer I was blown away. I’ve gone through about 3 playthroughs of the Campaign so far and I still get excited each time I start a mission.

Halo 4’s Campaign is by far my favourite.

So i just read all your post. All you do is complain!
If you don’t like the game take it back, i’m sure you can still get a refund.
I don’t buy COD or AC because i don’t like them. And im sure they are both great games to tons and tons people. Everything is just an opinion. Yours just seem to be all negative. :frowning:
Again I am actually sorry you don’t enjoy the game.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. Halo’s legendary always meant more enemies, smarter enemies…NOT a bunch of bullet sponges that just stand there and nail you from 1km away with a -Yoink!- submachine gun.

Halo 4 is by far the most favorite campaign for me.

I remember driving the Warthog on Requiem through a thick forest, then reached a clearing, and saw those massive Forerunner Pillars (The Cover Art for Halo: Cryptum) and just being absolutely blown away.

The art direction of this game is just amazing.

As for the difficulty, it’s Legendary for a reason.

I only played on Heroic, and I had difficulty, but still managed fine.

Its ok, its not the best or worst. The thing that tripped me up was the ammo boxes. they dont even look like ammo boxes but rather some random box laying out in the field. No sound comes from them when you walk near to that gives you ammo back either, should use a reload sound or something 343.

The game is frustrating at times, all halo games are.

I’ve beaten every Halo on legendary by myself. You, sir, have clearly never played Halo 1 or 2. That’s exactly what they were like. Massive bullet sponges that could kill you with precision accuracy from a PR at long range.

If a white elite in Halo 2 came out and you didn’t have a PP to drop their shields, or a power weapon, you might as well just revert to last save. No amount of BR, or SMG, fire would drop their shields before they wrecked you with those dual PRs from 200m away.

Those damn ultras were scattered throughout the whole damn campaign and in most places there’d be 2 or more of them. It wasn’t much different in Halo CE with the black elites and waves of flood that never ended. And lets not forget the Halo 2 brutes… That’s literally all they were was an obnoxious bullet sponge.

the enemies I can handle, I’m just finding it tedious to play. Halo 3 and reach when taken slowly and with thought meant you could clear out enemies from a distance and move in for the kill on what was left. You had some nice open areas where you had to strafe and move to stay alive. The mix was good the pace was great this is just tedium after tedium.

There is cover and I think I have over reacted but then I’m used to being able to have some more freedom with halo and the way I play it. I hate CoD for the simple reason you have a very linear line through each level and this pretty much feels the same.

I can see complaining about aspects from MM in terms of gameplay, but complaining that the enemies are hard to defeat on Legendary is like complaining you have to chew your food.

Wait, you mention halo 2 and put brutes there but will not talk about the sniper jackals???

I love the online, I just think the campaign just isn’t halo.

there are a few tweeks needed to get the online right but they will come with time. The campaign wont change and I sort of feel like I’ve bought one good online game and one bad campaign all in the same bundle.

> Wait, you mention halo 2 and put brutes there but will not talk about the sniper jackals???

As much as those jackals have given me a serious case of PTSD he was talking about something else. If we talked about the sniper jackals there’d be no where left to go since it’s like dropping an A-bomb on a discussion. Game over.

Or I don’t know… ANY LEVEL WITH THE DAMN FLOOD!!!

I hated that one part where it was hard and I died. What the hell, 343i?

Theres actually plenty of cover in the campaign. The only Choke points that are noticeably and reasonably challenging are in Mission 4.

Just finished it today solo legendary. I just headshoted my way through the game with the carbines etc, always picked up a fuel rod/rocket launcher when I could for those tricky encounters and hunters. I even abused the pelican mission. I skipped the first two towers :stuck_out_tongue: I even got the achivements “Cheif SMASH!” and “Give Him the Stick” all on Legendary I might add.

I didn’t know you could skip the first two towers! Any chance you could PM me and explain how? I have friends that would love to know that.
