I played the all Halo campaigned many times over once more with my cousins on coop during each launch on MCC last year, and each time it did not feel dull or a reoccurring experience. All the time, it felt new. I am also pretty sure multitude of you don’t actually use forge for more than multiplayer. Besides, MCC already has a great forge custom playlist anyways. 343i already finished making the core part of the game with multiplayer and campaign meaning the core experience is already done. If you can wait another whole year for the game to delay and finish up, you can definitely accept the core game in December, and side modes later.
For one, if you really did grow up with Halo since CE, you must got a lot of other things to worry about 20 years later that kept you busy than doing co-op and Forge anyways.
I read your title and post, and I just have to say: I care that these are being delayed. I forge and play co-op, is it so wrong for me to not agree with their decision after it failed in the past? Why are we so complacent to say: “well they are being transparent at least.” Or “it’s free to play” as if free to play excuses it for doing these things when 6 games before came with features at launch.
If campaign is what its being hyped up to be, a huge singleplayer experience worth full price on its own, with depth and length similar to other big singleplayer games like mass effect or fallout, then I’ll be fine with forge and co-op being delayed.
I care, so will reviewers and people who pick up the game excited for a full experience and all they get is a shell of a game, so much so that they put it down and don’t play again, don’t talk it up “around the playground” and don’t encourage their friends to play with them. First impressions matter.
As BlueDevistator said, first impressions can mean a lot for the life cycle of the game. Despite what a lot of people think, it’s not complaining for complaining sake. It’s wanting the game to be a smash hit out of the gate so it doesn’t just fall off a few short months after it comes out.
In addition to that, there’s been a lot of false promises made in the industry over the last few years. Just look at cyberpunk and gears. Understandably, it makes people kind of nervous when content starts being cut or delayed so close to launch because it seems like they’re scrambling to cross the finish line.
Please don’t disregard people who have solid reasoning behind their opinion. For families and friends this is a tradition that has been incredibly special for them for 2 decades.
343i has yet to release a game that is finished. Halo 4 and 5 needed to add things after release to be considered finished. So it’s not wrong to want to buy a completed game. Especially after the hot mess that was last years E3 demo. People want to see the campaign again before they pre-order. Yet, instead of showing something off, they release another multiplayer trailer (free to play) and ask people to preorder a game for $60 that only includes said campaign.
People are also upset that these 2 features are the things that get cut after a year delay. (This October will be 6 years without a main Halo game, seems odd that bungie could deliver a full game every 3. But we can’t get a finished one in 6. Now covid has caused a lot of delays. And I am not mad at 343i for taking this long, in fact, I think its Microsoft pushing the 2021 release. But if it was up to me, and it wasn’t ready, don’t ship it yet. Makes me wonder if they are cutting corners anywhere else.
Also, a bunch of people. Including myself. Have been playing the current game campaigns with friends in anticipation of Infinite, only to find that when we get it, we can’t continue the story together.
People tend to forget that forge wasn’t even introduced until Halo 3. The core Halo experience definitely wasn’t about forge. The matter of the fact is, you can still forge in every Halo game on MCC. Is this really not enough for 3 months? We’re also still getting a solo campaign and multiplayer at launch. Getting mad over no co-op is straight up nitpicking. People aren’t mad because they won’t be able to play co-op, they’re mad because everyone else is going to play solo while they choose to wait.
In my opinion, the community has gotten very entitled. Anyone playing these games back in the day know we didn’t have all this extra -Yoink- (forge). And don’t even get me started on the people who complain Halo 5 doesn’t have enough content. The amount of new armor and weapons in that game is so excessive it’s laughable and yet people act like every Halo game had that much content ever (spoiler alert, they definitely didn’t).
I do empathize with the people who prefer to play co-op, but I really don’t think it’s worth the level of outrage I’ve been seeing here lately.

It’s a vocal minority complaining. Just because something isn’t there they want it for the sake of it. Perfect example is playable elites. “Can we haz playable eleetes!!1!” Meanwhile no one ever typically plays as elites. Someone the other day on these forums was complaining about the brutes using plasma carbine in the Gamescom trailer…like…wtf? Who cares!?
There’s a vocal minority and a silent majority. Remember that.

I prefer to play as elites in halo reach and 3 :), i also want them to return to Infinite some time after launch
Who cares in campaign is delayed a little bit longer so that it’s fully functional and feature complete? You still have multiplayer to tide you over… Halo was built on Solo, Cooperative and Competitive. A third of the core Halo experience is missing and will never be what it is if it’s not there to be experienced day one.

Are you sure your “cousin” wasn’t Adam Sandler and you’re actually Drew Barrymore?

Then YOU can wait until February for the Campaign so the core game modes are fully complete and not ruined for any party. In the meantime, play the multiplayer.

Lol? It is certainly not nitpicking my friend. Forge drastically changed the custom games landscape, do you not play any of the mini games that were made with forge?
Are you being serious right now?
“Who cares if content is delayed?”
I have to wait 3 months to play the campaign with my brother. It’s a feature that’s been in the series since 2001 and made me fall in love with Halo.
Who cares? A lot of people do. A lot of people. 5 years of development and an extra year on top of that and they couldn’t even get coop in.
How I feel is that why is the campaign costing 60 dollars and the multiplayer is free but campaign is not launching with Co op?I dont work in the industry but I don’t see what co op needs to work so for them to not have that ready seems to me like this game isn’t gonna be working right and it has me nervous.

That is all depends on how much you exaggerate. Denying your enjoyment of the game because you were denied of coop, is silly. You can’t enjoy the tech preview, realize there is no coop, and then say its going to suck. People already proven that they enjoyed the core game experience just against bots. Its an excuse to whine just because you don’t have forge and coop mode. And its lame that people conclude something to fail because of a missing content due to it being in previous games.

I didn’t want my post to be off speculation and theory, but yes if they plan on single player to be a full on heavy duty open world experience, then a singleplayer 60 dollar game isn’t as off the charts as any other game.

343i already time and time, if not, month after month lately have shown their first impressions. Either from thread updates or even letting us play the game ourselves. Every month has been relatively positive until this month. All the sudden a mode and a half are delayed and the community starts crash and burns. It is ridiculous.

Lol we’re really calling CO OP AND FORGE “side modes” now, huh?

I am those two decades. Been playing since I was 4. Only difference between me and others is that I am not ridiculously exaggerating my complaints and coming to conclusions already. Even from Halo 4, 5, and Infinite. I was and am still optimistic of each game.
Besides, even though some reason can be that the main creativity of the community comes from forge, a lot of the fanbase rather use their nostalgia to reason.
