Who came up with this Matchmaking?

Who came up with this trash matchmaking system? I win, I get 1 pixel, lose, half the rank is gone. Players cant re-join if they crash. With less players you still loose points. Its frustrating as F.

Oh I forgot, where I get bronze and silver teammates as D3. This system is made by a 90 year old grandpa.

They clearly messed something up when they made the change last week to prioritize ping over skill week. The other thing is those bronze and silvers might be destroying bots and increasing there mmr behind the scenes and infinite thinks they are good players because of it lol. 343 has lots of fixing to do. But don’t fret as your rank is going to be reset anyway sooner or later this season.

WHAT? Youn are saying playing with bots has influence on ranked? Clearly your out of your mind, or joking.

It’s possible. It’s been proven that there is only 1 global MMR. Meaning if you tank in social it has an affect on your hidden MMR in ranked, as well.

I’m not sure if it’s been proven if the global MMR is affected by bots, but it is possible. What a joke, right?

Yea Its not pretty. The game is great, but there are so many little things that I considered ā€œnormalā€, that are not, or bad implemented.

PS: I bought a battle pass and was hoping for at least one BR skin/color, but no… I have to spawn with the same weapon (which is … ok) + same skin every round, its getting boring.

Why the hell did 343 create two separate playlists if they are both governed by one global skill meter? Is this normal?

Unfortunately, not a joke. Infinite uses a global MMR system. You can manipulate your MMR using bots and social modes. This can stick you with low-ranked players that bumped their MMR up or stick you with bad players the manipulate their MMR down to get easy ranked games and up their rank to Diamond while playing at a Silver level.

today has been specially (insert nice words).

  1. match with gold/silvers vs gold silvers
  2. we only 3
  3. opponent only 3
  4. wiuth plats vs 3 onyx
  5. we only 3 (game is running in BG)

heheheh and guess what, lost half the xp bar.

At the moment it’s a bug, I don’t recommend playing ranked until it’s fixed

Is it normal for a skilled and competent developer? No.

Is it normal for 343? Yes.

Has it?

We know that TrueSkill2 has a shared data set and then offsets (eg. x-position and width) for each playlist.

This is not the same as having one global MMR.

I think a lot of people are getting confused with the situation where you can enter ranked for the first time (new account) with a high MMR from playing bots. This is
clearly an unusual sitation - and one that would be sorted out very quickly in placement.

But only really significantly with your seeding MMR on a new account.

Once you have an established MMR the effect is much smaller.

I think the separate issue here is players using squads to try and influence the teams they are playing. You have your classic smurfs of course. But they can also just use a lower ranked team-mate to take the edge off the opposition’s top ranking players. And of course they can use strategic quits as well if they aren’t happy with the match up.

Why am I loosing points for a match that started as 3on4?

Actually yeah they’ve sort of done that for years in halo games. Other shooters too. It’s meant to limit people high ranked from just jumping on social and railroading new players all day, but it’s always had side effects like this

Then create a hidden rank for social games and problem solved lol.

But I think that defeats the entire purpose of having separate playlists like Ranked and Social. Getting beat in Social means nothing because players don’t gain a ā€˜Rank’ in Social for anything at all, they can only complete Challenges.

Social is perfect for passing the controller back and forth to my buddies whenever we’re hanging out… so now what I’m being told is that just having a good time and enjoying Halo just for Halo now has a hidden rank that is meaningless but still somehow detrimental to Matchmaking as a whole. I understand there has to be a meter of some kind matching players somewhat correctly based on skill, I think a true rank progression system could have helped with that but Infinite doesn’t have any sort of leveling system outside of Ranked or the Battle Pass/Events.

So what? Does Halo have two types of professional players now, the off-brand Social Pros and then the big brand Ranked Pros?

The two sets of players are pros and social sweats. Social sweats usually can’t do well in ranked so they try to make social into a pseudo ranked experience and take it very seriously

Oh, I figured it was casual gamers and professional gamers. I guess everyone gets to be a semi-pro by default nowadays.

You’d think. There is the third class of people who are classified as ā€œrandomsā€ by the other two. Generally these are your traditional social players or new players that don’t care much about winning or doing well.

It sounds like a friendly and fun environment!
