Who asked for Free-to-Play?

I disagree; all my friends and family, including those who don’t really play Xbox, can now play this game and only I had to buy it so we can all play the campaign, which for now doesn’t have co-op anyway.

Honestly this game wouldn’t have the player count it has now if it weren’t for F2P. We’d be down to 40-50k players at peak times instead of the 400-500k we have.

I know, right? 343 has it completely wrong. It should be $60 for the campaign AND the multiplayer. Having F2P multiplayer is just gonna mean hackers/cheaters running rampant, ruining people’s games. Even if they get banned, they can come back on an alt account since it’s free. An absolute joke.

I’d rather have fewer players if it meant paywalling the multiplayer against hackers/cheaters. If they get banned in F2P, they can just come back on alt accounts. This wouldn’t be the case if it got paywalled with the campaign.

Microsoft did. Simple as that.

I haven’t met a hacker or cheater. :man_shrugging:t2:

The “who asked for ______” argument honestly has no real merit, you can go on and on ad nauseum about things people didn’t ask for.

That said, of you’re looking for someone to blame then go after gamers. Over a decade of data shows microtransactions are financially successful. Started in mobile, and was adopted by gaming. All because market research and study of consumer buying trends made it abundantly clear that a lot of people will readily spend $5 on a game 40 times even if their reluctant to spend $80 on a game once. Millions of gamers have generated billions in microtransaction revenue, its very likely here to stay until it stops working.

F2P isn’t the problem. Anyone who’s thinking all the issues mp has right now is directly tied to F2P and we’d magically have a perfect game if they made it a full priced game would be in for a rude surprise.

yeah! it did… for the simple fact that 343 is using the f2p thing as an excuse. and excuse and reason to add all of these microtransaction. over monetize halo. monetize the thing players were promised to be free. maybe if they made a competent game, people would be more than willing to pay for DLC ontop of a 60 dollar price for the whole thing. but nooo… they gotta stoop THIS low. despite ‘listening’ to what the fanbase wants. 6 years of nothing, what a waste

Just because you haven’t met any now, that doesn’t mean you won’t see any in the future, especially considering the multiplayer released only a week ago. A little while after Destiny 2 became F2P, more hackers showed up.

Idk man, I don’t agree with the prices and grind, but the gameplay itself is pretty much exactly what we asked for. Modern Halo 3.

eh… honestly i don’t see the whole ‘modern halo 3’ thing… i don’t even see how it’s similar to Reach. i see too much halo 5 in it. i dunno… maybe i’m just being cynical here

Absolutely. No one one asked for it…but it’s a business model that has proven to be successful and highly profitable by attracting in more players and using sales techniques to push in game cosmetic purchases. There is little need to focus on player retention as new players come and go all the time. This wouldn’t have happened if the games community simply refused to buy in game purchases…but unfortunately the gaming community is its own worst enemy at times with its “must have now” attitude. I’ve been against in game purchases from day one as I could see this is where we would end up.

One might think F2P would lower the quality of the experience but Apex Legends shows that a F2P game can be extremely popular and enjoyable. It’s up to 343 I. to continually make the game more accessible and more customizable in order to attract more new players than the amount of current players who get put off by the changes and leave.

the problem with free to play is, its policies that devs planted of any dev for any free to play game.

apex legends like mention above was a different case. hunt showdown another title that is good.

so it can worked when implanted properly.

its basically yin and the yang balance it needs to work with.

but, however. there is challenges.

so its creating its own great journey.

Expect that to plummet after about a month, this game sucks and no way it is going to last.

Is there even a color pink you can buy?

I would PAY 60 USD tomorow if they remove this game from the GAME-PASS and Make that buy to play on steam/xbox.

Free to player multiplayer games are horrendous cuz nobody take them seriously

No one even uses a mic lol = zero comms = zero team work

games haven’t increased in price in the last decade, they should be at least $100 minimum… be grateful its $60.
