The brute in the cut scene says “The Harbinger and the Banished share the same goal”
Who are the Harbinger? Only thing I could find was it is an achievement for keeping blue team alive on “the breaking” in Halo 5.
What do you think the auditorium the Brute is talking about is? We never seen an “auditorium” on previous rings.
I think there will be more enemy factions besides just the Banished. I feel like 343 are still holding the cards super close to their chest, the only thing the reveal showed us was new weapons, and movement mechanics. I guess my satisfaction wont be met until I have the game in hand, because we still know NOTHING about what is going on!

I think The Harbinger is just a reference to Cortana and her Guardians
It could be a kind of “nickname” for someone, just like the covenant called Spartans “Demons” or Guilty Spark “Oracle”.
But for whom, I can only guess.
Maybe Cortana, maybe Warden Eternal, maybe a specific Guardian, maybe a Monitor.
It may also be someone completely new. We’ll have to wait and see.

That would be The Created.
Also, I can’t see how Cortana’s “bring the galaxy together under [my] Mantle of Responsibility” plan is even remotely close to being compatible with The Banished MO. It’s possible that The Harbinger is either an individual (Forerunner AI, maybe?) or another Covenant splinter faction. We’ll find out soon enough, I guess.
As for the Auditorium, that’s an interesting one. If we are using the standard definition of the word, this would be a place of gathering. Maybe it’s some sort of central hub that connects a bunch of Forerunner installations together under one portal network.
If I had to guess The Harbinger is a nickname the Banished use to refer to the Ur-Didact.
Not sure how I feel about this whole thing, mostly because I still feel like its sidelining what the real story should be about. I actually think that was one of Halo 5s issue, too much busy work, too many good ideas weren’t reallly “shown” or “explored” and were just sort of vaguely hinted at because too much time was spent on what were effectively side stories that didn’t meaningful contribute. If the Created Covenant was formed in the second mission after the death of jul rather than the final mission, if the narrative “sold” the audience on the legitimacy of Cortanas perspective rather than having her express empty platitudes, if they introduced the cyborgs, and the conflict between AIs on both sides of the conflict, if they explored the angle of AIs being transcendent humans and thus valid contenders to the mantle, and if they did this in a way that was contextually grounded I think it could of been a good story.
Just really hoping they haven’t abandoned “the story”, or abandoned the ideas they were clearly building towards in Halo 5. I still feel like if they had executed it the right way it would of worked. But i’ll try to reserve judgement until I see what they’ve done.
If the Ur-Didact, Mendicant Bias and Cortana formed an alliance, its possible that they killed Atriox on the Ark, and then blamed the death of Atriox and the destruction of the Banished on the Ark on humanity to exploit their anger. The Banished wouldn’t of bent the knee so easily, and perhaps they put up such a good fight for the Ark that the “Created” ( I don’t think this is their faction name long term) via the Ur-Didact figured this tentative alliance built on manipulation was the best way to kill two birds with one stone.
Well, Harbinger by definition is “a person or thing that announces or signals the approach of bUt tEh gRapHICs lOoK lEik pLaStIc oMg!”
So perhaps it has something to do with Mendicant Bias. Maybe he warned the Banished of the UNSC’s approach so they named him Harbinger, I know it sounds like a stretch but hOw hArD iS it tOo rEmOvE sPrInT FrUm uH GaEm?
At least that’s my guess. Or maybe it is Cortana. Maybe The Created was rebranded to distance the game from Halo 5 and they had the Banished give them the name Harbinger. But I don’t see why the Banished would work with Cortana in the first place. They seem like hOLa 3 hAs BetTeR gRapHicS thAn tHIs! 5 yEarS fOr mEgAbLOx pOwEr RaNgeRs?
So basically, I have no idea, I just wanted to name drop Mendicant Bias.

I’m glad you did! I think it’s been said that Halo Infinite takes place on Zeta Halo, which has a connection to Mendicant Bias.
I also wanted to say hi as I haven’t seen you post in awhile. Glad to see you’re still around.
Personally I don’t think that the Harbinger is Cortana, simply because I find it hard to believe that Cortana would work with or for Atriox/The Banished and I find it even harder to believe that Atriox would submit to Cortana.
My money is that The Harbinger is an ancient Forerunner AI similar to Mendicant or Offensive Bias, perhaps one that has had enough of humanity messing up the galaxy through their AI creations.
My theory is that the Harbinger is Covenant splinter faction that joined/allied with the Banished. This would explain where the blue Elites and orange Grunts come from.

Well, in fairness, this franchise and the studio makes millions of dollars annually and they’re releasing a hyped-up next-gen title. The LEAST they can do is make the graphics grittier/more in depth/higher quality than cartoony Mega Blocks.
Maybe with Atriox trapped on the Ark and unable to command his forces Cortana has been able to trick the Banished into following her. The Will of Atriox conveniently happens to be firing a Halo Array and fighting humanity.
I just can’t see them working together. The evidence at present leans towards Cortana being on the Chiefs side rather than the other way around currently.

I know. And I agree. The Brute’s face at the end looked like Xbox 360 era quality. And this is meant to sell the “most powerful console ever”?
I’m just poking fun at the way I’ve seen some people react to it. Today I’ve seen a grown man literally weep over a video game trailer and another scream in rage because he saw sprinting. It’s hard to take serious.
I guess the most confusing part is why are temper tantrum throwing crybabies upset with their game looking like a cartoon? Seems perfect for their emotional maturity level.
Or they’re just YouTube people acting it up for views. Either way, it makes us look pathetic.

My thoughts exactly. Cortana and her faction is called the Created. I’m going to theorize maybe Cortana cured her rampancy herself in the domain saw all the damage she brought to the galaxy and exiled herself allowing for the Banished to take control of the galaxy.

This is my favorite theory so far. There is a thread by that Dr Hasley dude on waypoint saying maybe the Banished found a way to put geas in their DNA allowing them to access Forerunner tech and maybe for the first time ever a Forerunner AI sides with another specie besides humanity.

That wouldn’t make sense though because the flood consumes all.
My first thought was Cortana, but he follows up by saying that they honour Atriox, which I don’t think Cortana would do.
To be honest, it could be another leader of a splinter faction that has aligned itself with the Banished. It would explain why the Elites, Grunts and Jackles look like the old Covenant instead of the Red Banished style.
Personally, I would have preferred to the the old enemies with the new red look, but maybe we’ll see them too.
