I ask you. Who do you fear to face? Who do you think are better overall? Do you think those who have mastered the default reach settings are the best, or perhaps those who have battled with and against pros are better? Please make sure you understand that I am not talking about say playing them in only their own playlist but I mean Arena kids in doubles or MLG kids in slayer etc.
Don’t forget to reply explaining your point of view and to try and sway others to your way of thinking!
Well Kampy got his -Yoink- handed to him by a bunch of randoms in the FFA and the pro’s are pro for a reason. Arena kids are all jetpacking bad kids that camp with shoutguns and sword. Arena is no where near the level of skill the pro’s are.
EDIT: I love how you say kids too. The only few pros that are under-age are about 3. The rest are all adults in their 20’s and early 30’s. Seriously, do some research.

Wow, shotgunnng and swording with a jetpack while camping. These are talented players indeed.
Here’s the thing, I would set up multiple game-types to test. MLG and Arena game-types would be in the mix, but maps they’d never played before would also be thrown into the mix. Maybe a couple SWAT and Sniper matches too. I would also toss in some matches with enhanced movement speeds and a limited sandbox, that are without AAs.
It would take about 21 games minimum to test either’s ability to play Reach versus each other.
And I cannot predict which one is better. Both hardcore list players are equal in potential, and so their potential must be tested.
I have played quite a few games of each (around 400). from My experience kids in MLG are significantly better. I believe no matter the settings the MLG players would beat the Arena Players.

If it is not on the pro circuit then it means nothing. Sorry. Swat? I will jump on rail road tracks when the train comes before I play swat of duty. MLG is Halo, Halo is MLG. It’s all the same. The reason MLG is proven to take way more skill is because they design the game types to do multiple things.
Maps used with MLG gametype(s) Encourages map movement. Meaning there are no places to hide where you can not be killed as well. making you always want to keep moving around the map and never camp in one area. There are no power weapons on the map you can camp with besides rockets but you have to make smart choices and out play your opponent and earn the rockets. Making skill a factor in the first place.
sandbox.
No shotgun
No sprinting sword
No AR spray and pray death rush
No hammer death rush
No stupid guns that require no skill to use.
Only guns in MLG are
The utility weapons,
The pistol
The plasma pistol
sniper
nade-launcher
rockets every 3 mins ( JUST LIKE NORMAL REACH SO DON’T EVEN TRY )
grenades
and pickups.
All the other stuff is just spray and pray no skill rushing tools.
The arena is just full of kids that grab the AR and fly up in the air as high as they can with the jetpack so the sun, on these already badly made camp friendly maps, makes it impossible for me to shoot them. please tell me how anything about the arena is really skill based?
So then it’s not about who is best at Halo: Reach, it’s whose best at MLG: Halo?

I can’t think of something witty to comment on one dying by a jetpacking ARer. I’m sure it will be the bomb later.
We should let the topic get back on track. Though, see first sentence.
> So then it’s not about who is best at Halo: Reach, it’s whose best at MLG: Halo.
It’s the same thing. There is no differences. It’s the same Halo. 5 shots to the with the DMR, 2 to the body with a sniper. Like I don’t get how you can’t get MLG has nothing to do with Halo. It is still Halo no matter what you want to try and prove.

I understand it is a part of Halo, that is why I said some MLG and Arena matches must be played. You are the one who does not include anything in Halo BUT MLG.

Because they are pro for a reason! lol There is no, “WHO IS BETTER ARENA OR MLG.”
Halo 1 and 2 didnt even have a real MLG gametype. But most of the pros from back then are still are #1 in Reach today. So I don’t see how arena and MLG are so separate. Only difference is you can not camp and hide with sword and shotgun on MLG’s maps. Making accuracy and smart choices more a part of the game which I believe requires more skill than jetpacking to the top of a map, camping with your DMR and cross mapping people. There is no thinking involved here. It’s map control with the press of a button…WELCOME TO ARENA!

English please. I don’t do the High School children games.
Many people who are high level Arena also enjoy MLG, they are just two different versions of competitive settings; MLG obeing the more competitive of them as it was specifically optimized to be as competitive as possible. The lack of shotgun’s, swords, starting AA’s, and radar make it require more awareness, team work, and precision. In Arena there are many “cheap” tactics people will use to get the upper hand, while in MLG those at 99% eliminated as options.
But don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of bad MLG kids, while if you’re single digit Onyx you’re obviously pretty good. Just because someones name is “MLG Defiluminationorator” (or some other lame “OG” gamertag that’s not even a real word) and the MLG Logo as their emblem, doesn’t mean anything. If they’re “So0o0 MLG” why are they in default? Everyone I know who is actually beast at MLG, spends 90% of their time in customs and the playlist.
To most, it seems that it is more of “preference”. Arena settings provide more “variety” in how battles will play out, while MLG is the core competitive goodness.
With that said; In a social playlist, they are probably will equally destroy. I would probably be more afraid of Arena warriors in default, as they know every little trick and glitch to the default maps, while in an MLG settings custom (which most 2v2s or 1v1 are done on) I would be more afraid of the MLG players knowledge of their maps and ability to rip my face off repeatedly with the sniper.
As one of the best Arena/default players I feel like I can contribute insight on this subject.
I’ve played and beaten pros both in and out of the MLG playlist. The skill level in terms of aiming ability is roughly the same at the top of both MLG and default. One of the mid-tier default Halo MM warriors in Halo 3 is now a pro who we play with often, and he is by no means significantly better than us in terms of individual skill. However the MLG players are much better organized due to the nature of their league with strict teams, while default players play with a wider range of players.
However default players have a distinct advantage in exploits that MLG has removed. I’m confident no MLG team could handle a team of jetpackers on Synapse or Kingdom. In MLG the pros have the advantage due to their experience, especially in objective.
So my verdict. Default players are significantly better in default, MLG players are slightly better in MLG TS, and MLG players are infinitely better in MLG objective.

This, although i think mlg still has better quality players. Give the MLG ppl a week to practice arena, and theyd probably win. Give the Arena people a week to practice mlg, and theyd probably lose.

If you want to go back through my game history, we used to bend pros over in Arena before there was an MLG playlist.

Heard someone held the objective on pistola lol
Honestly though, This is all over the internet. where there is always lag. You can beat them online, Yeah but at a lan though? I don’t know. Im not one to say.
