this new menu thing in halo 5 is dumb. when i join a game i hear people talking idk who im talking to because all i see is there emblem. i like the old way where i could see all the player in the lobby and look at there armour. the only good thing to come out of halo 5 menu lobby thing is that i can trash talk and say things that would get me reported because they dont know who to report cause they cant see my name. so i guess thats fun but i would like it if i could see he name of the people in the lobby befor the game starts. and i also want to see there levels and rank and other stuff like that.
They did it so people would not back out of lobbies after seeing specific people/ranks they match up vs. I myself actually like it the way it is.
They just need to make it so a speaker shows up above or below the emblem that is talking.

This would have helped a little bit last night. We recognized the high level emblem but we couldn’t see the person till the match started.

If I remember correctly you could see other players in the beta and one thing 343 changed was this current setup. Players would back out once they saw certain names or ranks. There’s already one example with what ruthless just said to prove my point. It’s always been an issue with halo traditionally and can be better handled by just having the matchmaking system be more fine tuned. It also would just be better to have this setup for ranked play only rather than having it in social as well. Have you also wondered why when a game starts up team chat is disabled? To stop trash talking.

I don’t remember that in the beta, I think it was exactly what it is now.
Also, I hope that’s not the reson. I’m hoping 343 messed up with this for some silly reson so they don’t keep this system. If there’s a reson to it, then 343 won’t change it at all.

On a more positive note, I do agree that we should be able to see whom is whinging, rapping, or cussing during the pre-post match periods.
I don’t mind not being able to see their names/levels. I do like checking out what armor people are rolling with tho… I would be on board with that.

I also find it odd that Halo 5 only shows you the emblems in the pre-game lobby, and also no way of knowing who is talking (not even a little mic symbol like past games have done?). The only way you get to see ranks and names before a match is if you are in a Fireteam. And that’s it. It’s quite frustrating to never know who is talking, and I’d rather not mute everyone if one person is being obnoxious. That’s not fair for anyone.
