As the title says every helmet in H4 has a white ring on the back of every helmet. Does anyone know what that is?
I had just assumed that they were ports for an AI, which had (I assumed) become standard issue for the Spartan IVs, because they’re in the same location as Chief’s dock for Cortana.
However, no AIs have been seen in Spartan Ops, so perhaps I am wrong.
Could be but there are so many spartan 4s that wouldnt be a thing, master chief is the only spartan i know of that carries an ai due to the autumns downfall.
I assume its just for a data disk but i know this topic is small but its something that really grabbed my attention lol
Probably both, a memory card for Spartan recordings and data that can be upgraded to house an A.I. just like Master Chief. It’s interesting to note that the Pathfinder helmet has an area for the port, but I think it’s the only helmet without a light there and seems much more structurally strengthened.

Well, it could be for putting the data chips of marine recordings. (Halo 1) In to see what happened to a downed squad in the middle of nowhere or something.
Or, in case something goes down, be like Cortana and to try and escape with the A.I. intact.
That’s where they insert the docking probe when they enter the Matrix and play Wargames.

Or a communications suite: radio, video uplink, and life support monitoring all with a direct line to the Infinity.

Doesn’t that come standard in the armor, in the helment specifically?

Yes, but its location in the helmet was never specified.
its for AI and uploading the Spartans into Wargames. ( like a VR game ) think of the matrix.
(Spoilers) If you saw the ending at the end where Master Chief gets his helmet taken off, and noticed the probe that went behind his helmet, yeah, that is what the rings in the back of the helmets are for.
Data storage.
looks like a locking ring/mechanism to me… and yeah probs data port aswell
what’s that stuff the villain uses in xmen 2? maybe it’s that.
Neural Interface. It where Spartans can put A.I’s into their suit. Officers also have them, but not to store A.I’s.
Specialized equipment and firmware can be uploaded to specialized data storage devices located on the back of the majority of newer model mjolnir armor configurations in order to better facilitate specialized missions.
TL;DR: it’s where you stick your specialization mods.

Spartan Naomi is known to have an AI ride in her interface (Black Box).
