White box on midnight

Hey guys was playing midnight on LASO and noticed a mysterious white box/square floating high above the light bridge as your heading towards Didact. I loaded the game back up on easy and it STILL appeared (only appears after the gravity lift appears to take you up onto the light bridge).

It almost looks like one of the squares you would get a waypoint glyph on… almost

I can’t see any markings though and i can’t seem to find out what it does, any of you guys have an idea? I’ve tried using PV but i couldn’t see anything with that either.

Here’s a very bad image of the square.

You can see it’s quite similar to these squares http://halo4arg.wix.com/section3-decryption#!copy-of-blank/c1o07

Any ideas?

Thanks for posting this! We’ve been looking for new leads to the easter eggs, especially the Midnight one. I’ll check it out right now, and look around.

Due to how far away it is, and the constant shaking (Seriously 343i, it’s making it painful to search for anything with this constant shaking like there’s a category 117 earthquake going on.)

The box spawns after the objective pops up on your HUD that says “IT’S ALRIGHT. BUT YOU MUST HURRY…” It can’t be destroyed, and there’s no way outside of modifying the game to reach it. My guess is it’s something used to ‘power’ the lift. Sort of like the weird green squares under Sand Trap in Halo 3. No way to be sure.

Sounds like it to me(or at least to me it does). Now I have to wonder. Does the box only pop up for those who have done LASO? And if we combine this with the charging sound we hear when we flip the boxes on the weapons stands, what do we get? Are they related? What difficulty is required? This is a very interesting Easter Egg.

Yeah I saw that aswell! I assumed it was one of those graphics cubes that controlled the composers animation. I even shot it with the binary rifle a few times.

Also when your start checkpoint Charlie and go up the lift then to the left or right you can jump up on the beams and if you make contact with the wall you will hear a strange noise.

It’s hard to explain, it’s the section before you go on the low gravity super man cannon. you can jump up onto the ledges/beams at either side when you come out the initial grav lift.

Lucky I saved my game saves onto my computer. How high is it? Maybe I could box launch to it.

On a similar note, I noticed a similar cube outside of Requiem.

But I don’t think they have anything to do with glyphs. Maybe they’re where certain cutscenes take place? I’m not sure.

I think it’s just a placeholder model or something. Look at what happens to the console/Cortana on Reclaimer when I’ve deloaded it.

Looks like a reference frame.

The official PC port of Halo 1 had an expansion pack called “Halo Custom Edition”. HCE came with the Halo Editing Kit (HEK), a simple map editor that allowed you to import 3D geometry created elsewhere. One of the sections in the HEK’s manual describes the process of creating a simple object that is used as the origin for the map’s coordinate system; that object, typically an untextured cube, is a reference frame.

Interesting… Notice that the waypoint lies directly on top of the cube – which, based on the position of that blue ring, seems like it’d be slightly inside of Cortana’s console (and laterally centered).

I think you’re right: that’s a placeholder object, provided for the campaign scripts to attach a waypoint to. OP’s find could be similar.

That would be cool if it was the egg, but it doesn’t seem to actually mean anything. What DavidJCobb said makes a lot of sense, and that’s what I agree with.
