In my opinion from Halo 1-5 including the spin offs, the primary UNSC vehicles in combat are the Hornets, Falcons, and Wasp. But if Halo Infinite had one, or all three vehicles… which would you prioritize to get the most and why? And this is not including reasons of nostalgia or lore wise.
For me, I think the least common choice for me to pick would be the wasp. The Wasp is honestly my favorite vehicle because of its mobility and slim design. It feels like if you play it right then you can win any fight from ground or air. The hornet and falcon have a design that makes it chunky and unable to enter certain fittings. With the wasp I feel I can make more tactical approaches. I hope it comes back after Halo 5.
I like them all, but I really miss the focus of cooperatively used vehicles. Therefore I personally prefer the Falcon over the others, with the Hornet being a close second due to the possibility to transport two soldiers around as well. Not to mention we already got a Phaeton covering a similar role to the Wasp already - even though the Wasp is a ton more fun to use, I’m not going to deny that!
Falcon, no contest. The other unsc air vehicles haven’t really done anything interesting that hasn’t ready been done by the Banshee. Reach in particular was good about creating vehicles of the same “class” without just making the “X faction version of Y vehicle” with UNSC vehicles being designed around cooperation to reach their full potential.
The base MP Falcon should be similar to the Reach campaign version with a weaker nose gun(side guns should be the primary damage dealers) and side seats for objectives.
The Pelican is too big for proper use for multiplayer, so the Falcon fills that transport role on a scale that makes sense.
Other forge/campaign variants would include:
*Transport only variant with 5 seats no side turrets and only nose gun
‘OP’ Gunship variant with missile pods and side GLs, no passengers
*Civilian version for machinima with no armaments whatsoever
The falcon was my favorite. Just having to use teamwork to kill felt fun and amazing. A flying warthog just more op. Plus having people sitting on the inside was cool too.
There should be parity between solo vehicles and co-op vehicles, so both (not the Wasp though, it sucks). While they’re at it they may as well add the Revenant or the Spectre back in too.
