Which trailer is better?

Standard
Director’s Cut

While the standard trailer was good for shock value watching it the first time around, the director’s cut is a bit better. The music is more subtle and I prefer that John threw the weapon away than to poop out a round. Now I wish that in the Director’s Cut Joh would have spoken. Also the music of the standard trailer in a way fits. There are various parts of the music that sound like the ship is tearing apart giving it a eery sound.

I like the Standard’s music better, but Chief just tossing that weird gun away was pretty cool.

Directors cut, sounds more emotional

Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention, but I never really noticed a difference in the music, and I barely caught the throwing away of the gun.

This is getting tiring: The second version is a proof of concept render with stand-in sounds and music to see what the final product would look like. It’s not a director’s cut. Someone on youtube posted it as such and everyone just accepted it.

Aren’t they the same thing except Chief throws his gun away in the Director’s cut?

Standard.

Neither; they represent nothing of what the final will be. Therefore liking one or the other is pointless in my eyes.

Only until i see something of worth from 343 will i actually start to pass judgement. As for the rest of you, enjoy the rest of your night.

third time posting the exact same thing becuz it doesnt show my post srry if you are seeing all three posts anyways i didnt noticce much of a difference in the music but both were good. but in general i liked the standard one bcuz i thought him throwing the gun away wuz pretty cheesy :stuck_out_tongue: just sayin…

Both. There’s good things to be taken from both trailers. I prefer when Chief speaks, saying “I’m here,” but then I like the Director Cut’s music. I like the darker tone in the latter one as well.

Im guessing they added in the reload of the gun to the standard so that players could be a little more sure of what they were getting.

For that reason as well as the fact I liked the music the standard one was my favourite.

Definately the “Directors Cut”. Thanks for posting, i had not seen untill now. Music was a lot more emotional, and set a mood i hope the carry into the game. And John throwing away the pistol at the end was a nice touch lol

It’s a tough call.

The music in the director’s cut certainly changes the whole tone of the trailer. It makes it sound much more dramatic than the original, almost like the Chief and Cortana are heading to their last stand or something. I also like the decision in removing Chief’s line he says to her, I feel it heightened the sense of urgency in his attempt to escape the exploding ship. Although I can also see how leaving the line in could add to the dramatic tone as well.

It was also cool that the sound effects weren’t being overpowered by the music, you could hear the sound Chief’s weapon makes when fired more clearly for example. Him throwing the weapon away at the end rather than pooping out a reload as stated was also better I thought.

As for the original, the music in this one gave a more epic, triumphant feel to the trailer. Instead of it looking like the Chief and Cortana may be riding an exploding ship to their doom, it looked more like the duo was getting ready to kick some serious -Yoink-, while riding an exploding ship to where they will be kicking that serious -Yoink-. And thus the Chief poops out a fresh grenade to load into his instrument of -Yoink- kickery - the grenade launching pistol thingy.

I’m utterly torn on which one I feel is better. While yes, the director’s cut strikes me somewhat more than the original, I can’t just say I favor the director’s cut without biting my own lip. Because every time I watch the original trailer, when the title “Halo 4” shows up on the screen at the end, the very moment that music starts to play always, ALWAYS sends shivers down my spine. It’s like for those few seconds that particular piece of music is playing, all of the awesomeness in the universe is channeled into that brief moment. It’s just epicness at its purest. This is just my opinion, but that’s why it’s such a tough call for me. Despite all of the cool visuals and cinematics showcased in the trailers, that small strand of seconds at the end left a hell of an impression in me. It leaves me awe struck.

I like the director’s cut better.
I absolutely adore the music, though faint it is.
I like how he throws away the weapon.
And, I like how the “Halo 4” things looks like at the end.

What I don’t like, however, is how John doesn’t say “I’m here.”.
