Which system are you getting this on

I was all set to buy the series x. I’ve been putting away $10 in an envelope every week. But now that this game is coming out for both consoles I’m not so sure anymore. Regardless of the new slipspace engine, everything still has to run on the vanilla xbox one. Sure it will be enhanced graphically, but fundamentally the game cant do anything impossible for the current generation of consoles. And with smart delivery I can always upgrade down the road. So I’m on the fence about just picking up that copy and waiting to see what Microsoft does with the nex generation as far as different sku’s and how it competes with sony. Where are the rest of you with this

I plan on getting it for the Xbone, when I get the Series X I’ll upgrade it with the smart delivery system.

I’ve been saving money (not for gaming) and I think the most economical purchase for the future would be to build a PC. The prospect of having VR games and also the regular Microsoft releases on one machine that is near the next-gen console price-point. For me the choice is obvious.

I bought Xbox One so I could play Halo on it. Now that they are coming to PC and there will be cross-play with XsX, X1 and PC players - its not really a difficult choice. Everyone will still be able to play to play together.

It all depends if I can get Series X at launch. If not then my old Xbox one will have to do. I’m not waiting, that’s for sure. I’m preordering it digitally. I use to buy disks, but not anymore. Smart Delivery is such a great feature.

It totaly depends on the game itself. if i like the things I see about the gameplay before release, i’m pretty sure, that i will buy it for the series x alongside the console… if I don’t like what I see, or the MTs are really bad (although there is no good way to implement MTs), I will get it on the One (probably used or just the gamepass version) and maybe only play the campaign.
I’ll buy the series x at some point, but only then, when the first games that intresst me are released on it (or there is a really good sale). that might even take a while, bc the PS5 has demon’s souls, so I’ll definetly buy the PS5 and I could have most next-gen games there (note: i’ve always been an xbox guy and most games i play on xbox, but after this MT riddled generation and the way h5 was, it is very likely i might switch)

That’s not necessarily true.
There could be fundamental gameplay differences between the Xbox One and Series X versions of Infinite.
There were multiple cross-gen games during the 360 to Xbox One transition that were fundamentally different based on which console they ran on.
The differences could be larger than “prettier graphics, higher resolution/framerate, etc”

Saving up for a Series X… and a new monitor. Can’t wait…

This summer has been lucrative for me, I’ve been very lucky compared to many people. I’ll definitely buy the Series X at launch with Infinite. I honestly don’t see the point of waiting if I can afford it right now, at some point we’ll have to make the transition anyway so better sooner than later. I’m still young, I’m still at my parents house, this is the best time in my life to buy a console, things will get complicated when I grow older.

Look I don’t know your financial situation but if you can afford it, I highly recommend that you do. Series X is already at a big disadvantage compared to Sony’s huge fanbase. This is the time when Microsoft needs fans to show up and support the new console. If we don’t it will be a massacre in terms of sales. Series X needs a big launch in order to secure a bright future. I think everyone who has the money should go for it, even if they don’t absolutely need it. I don’t need the new console to survive, but I understand that my purchase is important for the company. PS5 is a guaranteed hit, not Series X.

I want to get it for the Xbox Series X.

Microsoft could take it or leave it if Xbox wasn’t worth it anymore. They’re Microsoft. They have Windows. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just keep Xbox around so that they can get their brand into the living room. Its like Youtube with Google. The parent company doesn’t actually need the child to survive, its just useful.

Xbox Series X

I didn’t mean that Microsoft needs Xbox to survive, that’s obviously not the case. But I care about Xbox and I don’t want it to go away. Its simple, if you want Xbox to survive, buy the Series X, if you don’t care, don’t buy it.

Xbox One because I’m not a hardcore gamer anymore and I have other life expenses that take priority. But also I wasn’t honestly that blown away by what this console generation provided, so if all the next one offers is graphical upgrades I’ll pass.

Series X because it’s the next gen

I’ve been logged out of waypoint for YEARS now, but this comment compelled me to chime in. This is one of the most depressing things I’ve ever read. You sound like an absolute consumerist slave. You don’t owe any loyalty to corporations. I’m very much looking forward to Infinite and the X1SX, but you don’t have to wake up and salute the Microsoft flag every morning. Jesus.

I owe Microsoft nothing, they provide services and products I use. I’m not showing up and supporting them if they don’t give me a reason to, if they want my money the need to give me reasons to part with it. I bought a PS4 for God of War and Nioh, but I also owe Sony nothing, and will not be buying PS5 day one because I have not seen a game I want day one.

Sony has a huge player base advantage because Microsoft dropped the ball this generation. Forced Kinect, always online, weaker console, pushing it as an entertainment system, too expensive etc all contributed to it being dead on arrival. I will admit it’s gotten a lot better, but if they want us to buy the new console we need exclusive games too.

Also, not many families can buy every console when it launches, and some need multiple consoles, the way Phil Spencer is building the Xbox ecosystem not many will need to upgrade for a year or two either. He’s already stated they are building the experience around the player, not the device, in a recent interview he stated the strategy is not about how many Xbox’s he sells this year. Interview here.As things stand I’m still not buying Halo Infinite day one, 343i have given me hope, if I like what we see in July and there’s no rng loot system I’ll re-evaluate.

Series X.

I was going to buy the new Xbox anyway and Infinite is just the final push to get it. Just hoping it won’t be a 360-launch thing with the RROD and all that. My One is still doing fine but I just want to play Infinite on the best console. Also have to buy a new tv so I’m hoping the All Access programme comes to the Netherlands so I can just go for a console + Live + Game Pass combo and pay monthly to spread the costs. Might go for a fully digital copy of a Halo game for the first time, unless the Legendary/Limited edition turn out to be good.

I won’t be getting the Series X at launch. Its going to be pricey and a little chunky. I’ll look at getting it if a Slim version releases in a couple years.
In the meantime I’ll be playing Halo on PC and the Xbox One.

The fact that in the latest xboxon video they mentioned Infinite being « optimized for series X » is a bit worrying to me. It means the base dev environment has been the vanilla one, and so I guess the one X version could do it for me.
