Which old maps would you like in Infinite?

Halo 2 Terminal for sure! I love that map and that fact that it’s asymmetrical too! Plus, I love that little train that splatters Spartans that aren’t paying attention!

Ahh yes, I forgot about Standoff, epic br battles and warthog runs

I want to shout-out to the guys that suggested Halo 5 warzone maps, you were right with those maps being the right size scale for Infinite. I didn’t really play btb or warzone in H5 much. But let’s keep in mind people that these maps need size for 12v12, I mean damn the new Deadlock map is like 3 or 4 football fields area.

Lockout
Burial mounds
Blood gulch
Ascension
Guardian
Ivory tower
Zanzibar
Valhalla
Construct

Pretty much anything from halo 2 and 3. When maps were good and memorable.

Whoohoo! Nice small list. Bigass was such a militaire map, that got better and better in every map version. I’d love to have bigass (yeah, sounds kinda wrong)

It’s important to ask two questions when considering classic maps in Infinite.

1: How would they play with the movement pace of the game?

2: How would they play with the weapons and equipment in the sandbox?

Because of this I want to stray away from Bungie-era maps that are too small. And because Infinite’s weapons are extremely lethal with a higher consistency at longer ranges than pre-Halo 4 sandboxes I also want to avoid maps that are too open. Because of equipment lots of verticality would be welcome.

So with that in mind some that come to mind are:

Epitaph, Sword Base, Countdown, and Adrift for 4v4.

If they ever add Squad Battle as an 8v8 for some classic BTB feels then I’d also like to see:

Waterworks, Zanzibar, Longshore, Boneyard.

Finally as a little bonus, I think they could repurpose and rework Spire and Battle of Noctus into modern BTB maps.

I remember how big they made Zanzibar during Halo’s 2 production. But whenever I played Attack/Defend matches on it ( 1 flag, plant bomb ect. ) it always had the same issue every single time. People focused waaaay to much on just defending, in the flag room instead of trying to prevent people from reaching it in the first place like they should be doing. Because of this, it usually gave a lot more favor to the attacking team, that if they could get the objective outside of that little base, they could easily win the match.

Now for matches like slayer it played fine. It was just those attack/defend matches where it really wasn’t fun playing, which it was suppose to be the strong point.

The Halo 3 successor IMO was better designed though. Forget the name of the map though.

I like the H3 Zanzibar better as well. That’s another map that could be a lot of fun in Infinite. Grappleshot shenanigans on the big wheel could make for a ton of fun.

You obviously haven’t played with some skilled btb players, cuz they basically had 3 runs to make it bomb or flag in the warthog, and if the offense didn’t keep it up, some defenders could easily disrupt seawall by camping top mid or sniping

Zanzibar is cool, I just feel they would need to open it up more for infinite. Like imagine if they could make alternate routes for the warthog, like extending the map behind the defense base, so a hog could drive behind.

I’m all for adding old maps, but they most likely need more added depth to them

Well yeah, I probably never played with the 1% of the community back then that could actually properly defend outside of the flag/bomb plant point. Most people didn’t even bother communicating, which handicaps most teams significantly when every ones playing “where could the enemy come from”.

Most people will never have that experience in a match.

BTW, Zanzibar wasn’t a BTB map. It was just a standard size map.

So you’d prefer to completely stray away than try to think of a simple solution? Because there are very simple answers to your questions.

All classic maps, either big or small, should be streched in all horizontal directions in order to maintain their original size feeling. It should be done by some factor and not in a way proportional to the difference in speed. So sprinting from one Blood Gulch fort to the other should still take a little less time compared to running the distance in the old days (rather than taking the same time). Of course they shouldn’t be streched so much to the point where modern sprinting would take more time to cover the distances.

The maps should also be a bit streched in vertical directions (e.g. heights of bases and forts), except maybe for cases where it wouldn’t make sense (e.g. a pavement).

As for equipment, there can be rules regarding which ones are allowed in each map. Easy peasy. And if we were to allow a few of them that didn’t exist in old Halo games, the maps could be adjusted a bit to cancel them (e.g. make the gap in boarding action somewhat bigger, to ensure that you cannot cross it by using a grappleshot).

Like someone said before, I imagine a reach combat facility would be a cool map for something new, or maybe even some training grounds or an arena sport like map, something similar to a thrashball field like in gears of war. Could be a ricochet field, or an arena symmetrical paintball halo field. Imagine a huge paintball field with bunkers and towers to capture with uneven terrain. That’s what I love when playing Infinites Deadlock map.

It’s exhilarating running from cover to cover defying death as snipers overlook the field, and then shepherding the infantry with vehicles. That fast unique action Halo can deliver that no other game can.

I really like ascension from h2!
most of the h2 and h3 maps would be super awesome to have.

Don’t think I replied before. I’d want to see a remake of Spire from Reach.

Danger Canyon was one of my favorite maps!

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

Danger Canyon was an incredible map for sure!!!

I honestly forget the names of some of the popular arena maps.

Bloodgulch and Valhalla would be fun for BTB.
