Which Mark Six armor is better?
Of this list, I’ll go with H2/H3 all day long. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that H4 and H5 did not have the same armor. H4’s is canonically an updated version of Gen 1 Mark VI thanks to “nanobots” (ugh). H5, however, showcases Gen 2 armor. It’s not Gen 1 Mark VI.

Is that Halo 5 armor I spy in your profile picture?
I prefer the H2/H2A armor, but Halo 3 is right behind. I never minded the aesthetics of the Halo 4 armor, I just thought it was annoying that they gave the nanobot explanation when they could have just said “we made changes to be more consistent with our new artstyle and worldbuilding sensibilities” and that would have been completely legitimate. Halo 5’s armor looks a bit too plasticky for me.
I find the 2/3 Version of Mark VI to be better, honestly I enjoy the sleek & particle design to it
I didn’t mind the 4/5 Version but it just wasn’t my cup of tea, I know some people like that look and I can respect that, but to me it’s not my favourite
I didn’t like the overly messy detailing on the 4-5 ones, I prefer the cleaner military concept in 2-3. but I still found more varians that I like in 4(I found more ugly ones too though lol), mostly when it comes to helmets, Enforcer and Warrior are two of my favorites. Never got too fond of the h3 variants.
But I still have to say 2-3 for that general art style. Hopefully Infinite will be the best of both worlds. By the looks of it the Mjölnir art style in Infinite might become my new favorite if it’s mostly as good as what we have seen so far, this isn’t markVI though, just saying.
Assuming you are asking about design? in function a whole different story.

Haha yeah… I just like the pose Chief is striking in the photo, so I’m sticking with it.
My vote goes to the Mark IV in halo 2 anniversary. It homages the original design while also evolving it, I thought from that on gen 2 armors would look like that.
Oh I thought you were asking which variant of the Mk VI was the best lol. Agree with everyone here, Halo 3 was the best out of all of them
The Gen2 variations in Halo 4 and 5 really miss the mark, IMO. As for Chief’s MkVI MOD as seen in those games, it’s pretty cool- I just can’t get over the fact that it clearly isn’t the MkVI armor, forcefully contrived nanobot retcons or no. I think H3 really nailed it with Chief’s armor in particular-- the battle-damaged chest plate with the NEXT GEN (at the time) definition, sheen, and polish on the rest of the helmet, including that glorious gold visor. Good stuff.
Halo 2/3 was my favorite… especially how chief looks in H2A
Halo 2/3 did it for me. It’s iconic.
