Which headset should I get?

Need some opinions on which gaming headset I should get.

Price is is not an issue. Was looking at the Halo 5 Astros but if you ask me, Halo is Master Chief, not Locke. So the design of those doesn’t turn me on.

suggestions?

This one.

Hollaaaaaaa!

Im assuming those are better then the A40 Halo5 edition?

If you are able to get them, I’d recommend the Kraken for Xbox One. I have the Kraken Chroma (it only works on PC) which have a very similar constitution and they are sturdy and very, very, very comfy.

If you are asking specifically about Halo-themed headsets, I dunno, sorry.

Nevermind, you are asking about Halo 5 Astros, sorry for posting.

I guess they are better audio-quality wise. But the Halo 5 one has a better Xbox controller connector. *"*The MixAmp™ M80 lets you adjust your game-to-voice balancing, choose from up to 3 different EQ modes made for gaming/media, and click to mute. Best of all, it mounts directly onto your Xbox One Controller."

Make yourselves a pair of earphones by fashioning two empty tuna cans with a string into something that fits over your ears. If you’re going to use a placebo, you might as well make it a cheap placebo.

Make sure to use olive oil tuna cans. They give a more rich audio “flavor” to your ears.

Get Astro A40s. If you don’t like Locke then whatever, get the regular A40. It’s the best headset I’ve ever owned.

Why not A50s?

A50s are wireless I believe. Some people don’t like wireless. I am one who does NOT like wireless.

If you don’t mind dealing with batteries, then go ahead. I prefer to just take the wire hookup to my controller to never worry about it.

Some believe that wireless accessories lead to enough lag as to cost you the win you otherwise deserved. I’m not among them, I think it’s a convenient excuse, but I’m also not a good enough player to be at such a level wherein wired vs wireless makes a difference, so my input is worthless. So… I posted for no good reason.

I’ve never heard anyone claim this. It’s about as dumb as saying wireless controllers are a disadvantage. They aren’t.

It’s about the hassle of batteries vs the hassle of a cord.

A40s, you’ll never feel like you wasted any $. A50’s are fine just a tad bulkier and they always need to be charged I feel. I own both and only use the 50’s for more casual games/ music or whatever. My A40’s are my halo go to headset.

I’ll be completely honest with you. When the Halo 5 Beta was about to come out I exchanged a lot of headsets. I was looking for something that was very clear on what direction sound was coming from. I tested different brands and models. Best Buy was upset I’m sure lol.

I found that the Turtle Beach XOSeven Pro was the best by far. It’s simulated surround sound I believe but it works soooo good. Only con is my ears get hot after awhile. (hours of gameplay) I got them for like $120ish I think maybe more.

My runner up was a pair of Kraken Pros. They were amazing for bass and clarity. I just couldn’t detect direction of sound as well compared to the TB. My ears are on point so I know it wasn’t the user. They were lighter and more comfortable and half the cost.

Your best bet is to try a few out and see which ones work best for you. Just return the ones that suck lol Like the XB stero headset. I did give that one a go too lol.

Sheeit mang, I just said I can’t vouch for the claim. I’m just saying, that’s what I’ve heard.

I’ve been a bit worried about rechargeable batteries since I noticed that a normal AA battery outputs 1.5V and my rechargeables output 1.2V, but I’ll let someone else be the guinea pig…

If you are planning on picking up a pair of Astro A40s, get the PS4 Astros, and then the AG1 XBox One cable for your XBox One. I heard the difference in sound quality between the Mixamp Pro and the MX80 is noticeable. (You need the AG1 cable to be able to use voice. It is another $25, and all it does is plug into the bottom of your XBox One controller, into the MixAmp Pro.) Plus, you save way more money if you get the PS4 edition, since you don’t need to buy the MixAmp Pro separately, which is like $130 by itself. Only downside is that you only have one color for the PS4 version, which is gray/orange. The A50s are pretty much the same as the A40s, except wireless, and is much more straightforward to set up. Good sound quality, mic quality is about on par with the default mic that the XBox One comes with, according to my friends. I also heard that you can take off the magnetic tags off the side of the headphones to get a different sound, so that is something worth trying out as well. Something also worth mentioning though is that Astro is coming out with a new series of A40s called the A40 TR, which comes out next month. The Xbox One version of that set comes with a MixAmp Pro TR, and since they are newer, they should have better sound than the previous generation of A40s. How much better is beyond me though.

Just do your research though, before you buy a pair, since it is a rather solid investment.

They have a master chief version but I don’t believe it is anything new. If you don’t want the new ones (Neither do I because i feel the same way) then i suggest you get a color that you like with a mix amp. Astros is definitely the way to go though.

Turtle Beach XO Seven. Best headset I’ve ever owned period.

Amazing suggestions guys, thanks. I’m most concerned about bass. I used to own a pair of Turtle Beach (can’t remember which model). Paid a good price for them, but there just wan’t any oomph, y’know? I wan’t something with enough bass that it rumbles when an explosion goes off.
