Which Halo should classic playlist emulate?

We know that there will be a classic playlist. Now I ask which Halo title should the classic playlist emulate?

Should there be multiple versions emulating different titles? i.e. using AA’S as pickups to emulate equipment in H3.

It has been confirmed that the BR will have spread. So should we consider using the DMR instead? Is classic about aesthetics or replication of the FAST and COMPETITIVE Halo we know and love that will be lacking in H4 and was lacking in Reach.

To me just having no loadouts and fast killtimes will feel like the Halo I enjoy. I am for using new weapons and do not want to play a purely aesthetic playlist(i.e. no new maps etc. etc.)
Discuss. Let’s get a head start in constructing this playlist.

Classic: No AAs, No Sprint, No Equipment, No Random Weapon Drops, Camo and OS powerups, BR starts (because there is no god pistol in H4 I assume).

Reminds me of barebones in CoD actually.

> Classic: No AAs, No Sprint, No Equipment, No Random Weapon Drops, Camo and OS powerups, BR starts (because there is no god pistol in H4 I assume).

Sounds like H2. I think I’m in love already.

Halo 2 or 3.

CE does not work as the sandbox will be completely screwed up.

I like the idea of AAs being pick ups but what about Sprint? Disabled i assume?

No loadouts or specializations either.

Of course, i have the feeling it’s going to not please the vets because we can’t decide which classic halo game was better. You know the whole “CE was the best! No Halo 2 is the best! No Halo 3 was the best! You’re wrong!” issue and the fact that Halo 4 (even if it’s barebones) is still going to be bound by the game’s code and map design that is not similar to how Halo 2 or CE was built. No 3 shot pistol, no BXR, no old graphics etc.

Halo 2 classic. Just because anni classic already did HCE. Lets kick it with some H2. Meaning no DMR, just BR. Classic maps such as Midship, Turf, Gemini and Backwash. Yeah I said it Backwash, barely ever got to play it in H2. Heck any of the H2 maps would be good actually.

Halo 2 or 3. But I think it’ll end up somewhere in between if not more closely to halo 3 due to the most likely case of Halo three’s physic’s being easier to replicate. Although Halo 2 and 3 physic’s where similar too each other weren’t they? I know grenade aspects from both were different, but I can’t think of anything else since It’s been awhile since I played both.

No point in trying to emulate Halo 2 because 343 won’t add in button combos, and its BR had no spread (Halo 4’s does). Also, 343 think they made a great emulation of CE in Reach (blargh) so they’ll undoubtedly look at Halo 3 (blargh) for their classic playlist. That’s if they even make such a playlist.

how about if u have to vote for the game, say u could vote for halo 3 if feel like halo 3.

Halo 2.

unless they want to add a terrible net code and random deviation for H3 fans…

So I have to ask. Would the DMR be a better substitute? Is classic more about aesthetics?

It shouldn’t emulate any Halo 100%, as its standard settings (jump height, movement speed) are akin to H3’s, while strafing is more akin to H2, and there is no dual wielding. It should be a blend (as well executed as possible) between Halo 1, 2, and 3.

I say

halo 2 jump

halo 1 objective traits

halo 2 movement and strafe

halo 2 kill times

flag juggling

And whichever weapon has least spread

I agree. I hope there is at least some talk at E3 about classic.

The more and more I hear about H4 default, the more disappointed I get. It sounds awful.

exactly what i said in another thread. They can copy the settings as best as they can. But halo 4 classic playlist will never satisfy the nostalgia blind vets out there. In no way will halo 4 EVER feel like halo 1 2 or 3. the engine alone makes this a fact.

But hopefully they will be content with what they get lol. Im fairly certain the classic plyalist will be one of the most under played of the available playlists.

Thats strange because everything you heard is either subject to change, out of context, already been modified, and / or not even finished there for has no details yet.

So… im kind of lost as to how someone can be utterly disappointed with a game they lack severe and critical information on.

He’s right, the classic playlist will not please everyone. Which is why I’ll use the new playlist.

Don’t be obtuse . There is a plethora of information one can draw a reasonable expectation from.

I don’t like AA’S period. This game will have them.

I don’t like custom loadouts. This game will have them.

There are two things I factually despise that are confirmed in the game. I don’t need critical information or a -Yoinking!- time machine to develop an expectation.

I also suggest you to leave this thread if you have no interest in classic gameplay.

Nothing can please everyone. You are drawing a faulty opinion based on an unreasonable expectation. You can however please most. And given the alternative, which will be drastically different, pleasing most within that genre is within reason.
