Which Halo has made you the most excited for its release?
For me, it has to be Halo 3. i remember completing the halo 2 campaign and thinking ‘wow, i cant wait for the next one’ but then realising it was only going to be on the Xbox 360 (i only had the original xbox) i was devastated. I was so excited for its release but then again so upset that i couldn’t purchase it. a year or 2 (possibly more) went by and i was still waiting for it, STILL so excited. I got my Xbox, finally, the first game i got, can you guess? Halo 3. It exceeded my expectations, and it didn’t leave my disc tray for a while lol.
Gotta go with CE too. It was pretty much my “wow gaming is THIS awesome?” moment for me. Nothing has yet to beat that feeling when “Under cover of night” first played on TaR or that Flood reveal.
I think for me it was pretty much Halo 2…probably like pretty much everyone else on this Planet, I LOVED CE, Combat Evolved was the reason i bought a Xbox. I played Halo first at a Friends Place and neither heard of Xbox before (totally Nintendo Kid around that Time) or Ce so i did not know what to expect. Well and I loved it and bought a Xbox Instead of a GameCube i saved my Money for. When I heard a second games was coming, saw the first Teaser I was immediatly on board, and couldn’t wait for it. I got more and more hyped with everything i read, heard or saw for Halo 2. I loved the two sides of the Story, I loved to be on the covenants side, and I absolutely LOVED Thel.
And its the exact same now with Halo 5, Halo 5 is 343i’s Halo 2.
either 1 or 2, both because of their 2000 and 2003 e3 demos and the 2004 multiplayer demo (still want that burst / single shot BR). i only got excited for h3 when i watched the making of dvd in the legendary edition before i started playing, the marketing did nothing for me. ODST and halo wars were both pretty hype though.

Halo Reach of course. I pre-ordered the Legendary Edition.
Halo 3, if I remember correctly. I was still a youngin’ at the time, and I had played the first 2 Halos at a friend’s house. Got homw from school one day and my older brother had boight a 360 with Halo 3. I about died from sheer excitement. Looking back, I’m surprised how chill my older bro was letting his little brothers handle his new 360 so much.
Halo 5 has me pretty pumped up and excited right now, they’ve hit every keystone correct with adding onto prior games. I didn’t find out about haloCE until a year prior to halo2, and I played that game for months, its replay value was incredible. Halo2 also had a great replay value. First game I ever pre-ordered, from toys-R-us, lol. Brought it into school the very next day showing it off to everyone. Proudest day of my childhood wipes tear from face.
I missed halo3’s first couple months, had no 360. Dreadfully kicked in the face with this one. Got the halo3 edition console package…excluded a copy of halo3. Had to wait a month before getting a copy. Played over 5,000 custom games on h3.so happy the community was awesome back then, easy to find random custom games. Now it’s scary because its either parties only if people don’t want random players joining. I guess that’s what forums are for.
Halo 4 had me excited, bought that collectors edition and cried, sold it and threw out my xbox. Wrong turn for halo. Halo5 seems to be taking the right turn.
Aside from Halo 5, it would be Halo Reach without a doubt.
I have been playing Halo since I was about 8, which was in 2005 but I didn’t become a die hard fan until I first played Halo 3 when I got it for Christmas. When Reach was announced me and two other friends were ecstatic and pre-ordered it. I remember on release day we got off the bus from school and literally sprinted back to our homes to find the game on the floor wrapped in packaging. Trying to put the disc in the tray proved difficult as my hands were shaking from sheer excitement and I booted it up and a party invite came through from my other friends. Funnily enough we didn’t really like it and we all stopped playing it for a while after a few weeks. Those days make me tear up sometimes thinking about them haha.
Unfortunately those two friends don’t really play Halo anymore so won’t be pre-ordering Halo 5, although they did say the would consider it.
Halo 4, Sounds silly compared to older halo gamers, but halo 3 was my first game, and I was 9, so when halo 4 (the sequel to halo 3) Came out, The hype was reaal
Halo 5 because this is the first game i actually paid attention to before release. All the trailers, Hunt the Truth, the dramatic reveals of new information, all of it just got me even more excited.
First off this should have been marked off under social. Secondly it’s quite silly to be posting this in the halo 5 area when the game is coming out in like a week. Thirdly this is considerably bottom feeder thread.
Halo 2 was an amazing game and the first time I was ever able to play a game online. It was basically magic. I had done LAN parties and played some C&C over dial-up but to be playing a console between two homes felt impossible. After a few months of playing Halo 2 at a friends house, including a few times I snuck in because he had Live and I didn’t (Yes I realize I was addicted), I was able to wear my parents down to switch to DSL which was maybe $30-40 more a month. I told them I would pitch in with my minimum wage job. What really sold them was that it didn’t tie up the phone line when you were on the internet.
So here comes Halo 3…on a new console AND it was a new game. After 2 long years of enjoying a new shiny amazing console that was the 360 I was finally going to be getting a game that would remove Halo 2 from my life. OMG…The bubble shields! The mongooses!! The climax to an epic trilogy! It was beautiful and it was my primary and biggest time to play video games in my life. It was huge. 2007 was a year for gaming for me.
I came into the fandom a little late, around the time when my brother bought Halo 3 when I was 15. I never got caught up until around the time Reach and Halo 4 came out so maybe it was those two.

Same here. When I saw the very first trailer of Halo 4 I was like ‘meh’. But after I saw the campaign and multiplayer trailers I got pretty excited of it.
